Menopause can shake the very foundations of our wellbeing.
Hot flushes, sleep disruption, and anxiety affect our physiological and safety needs.

When we’re tired, stressed, or unsupported, it’s harder to eat well, move, or rest, not because we don’t care, but because our capacity is low.

That’s why this World Menopause Day, I’m talking about building capacity for positive lifestyle changes: regulating our nervous system, food security, connection to ourselves and others, and practicing compassion.

Small acts like going for a walk, eating enough without guilt, or speaking kindly to yourself are radical acts of self-care and the starting point for change.

My role is to dig a bit deeper, and support you from the inside out as the whole woman you are.

What ways do you build capacity to help with positive lifestyle changes?

I’m very excited to announce that are a supporting sponsor for Fannies & Fizz. A women’s health event that combines girls night out and health promotion to empower women to speak up and seek support for issues that are often not discussed.

As a fellow system shaker I am so pleased they are going to be there and share conversations with our guests. I am so passionate about aligning with brands who care about improving women’s health and they certainly tick all the boxes 😍

Natracare was created as a campaign to shake up the menstrual products industry with real, viable eco-friendly alternatives for periods.

Their mission is to develop period and personal care products that are better for your body and the planet, they even created the world’s first organic cotton tampons and certified compostable pads and panty liners.

They use organic cotton, sustainable wood pulp, and plant starch. They are plastic-free, perfume and dye free, and use a totally chlorine free process.

Better for your body. Better for the planet

Wow!!! I’ve been blown away by the response to this event!
Yesterday I was at a gorgeous wellbeing event, someone came up to me and said:

“Oh, you’re the F🩷nny Lady!”

Well… that’s definitely going on my obituary!
Although, I think I might prefer The F🩷nny Coach, your women’s health version of Joe Wicks… without the burpees, obviously. 🤣🙈

Anyway today is your last chance to get your ticket for just £30 – offer ends tonight!

The fab are hosting us for an educational girls night out and I’m so excited to share it with you all, while raising money for

Just under a week to go until the early bird discount ends – and we’ve already sold 25 tickets!

I’d love to double that this week. If you’ve been sitting on the fence, now’s the time to grab your ticket and save £15 🎟️

Just imagine… 50 women coming together, learning about their bodies, building confidence, and leaving ready to share what they’ve learned with their nearest and dearest.

The ripple effect? Hundreds of women and families helped – and we’ll be raising funds for supporting research that’s desperately needed to improve women’s health.

Today, while I was out delivering leaflets and posters, I got a sharp reminder of why I’m doing this.
I had that (cue eye roll) conversation with a couple of blokes who said my event was “sexist” because it’s about women’s health. 🙄

I explained:
• I want to raise awareness of women’s health issues – things that don’t directly affect men and deserve their own safe space for open conversations
• I want to raise money for a charity that funds research for women, who’ve been historically underrepresented in health research

Their reply? “Well, women live longer than men.”

While that’s technically true, I said, women often live longer in poorer health, their issues are dismissed, and they’re usually too busy caring for everyone else to prioritise themselves.

And honestly? I thought to myself…
I don’t see many women spending Monday afternoons in the social club with a pint and a paper.

I just wish society saw a woman trying to make the world better instead of mocking her with lazy, misogynistic comments.

But here’s the thing:
This event will ruffle feathers.
Because the women who walk out of it will be stronger, louder, and ready to demand better care – for themselves and the women they love.

Are you coming? Let’s shake the system shall we!💪✨

🤭 You know I love a bit of humour

Nurses are often the worst for dark humour, but honestly, that’s part of what makes this event so special.

When I started Fannies & Flapjacks, it was never about minimising the severity of the symptoms so many women live with every single day.

I know — I’ve been that woman. The one who thought she was going mad or just a bad Mum. My mental health nose dived without any obvious cause and I feared I’d be sectioned, like the women in my family before me (more about this another time).

But comedy has always helped me cope with life. And life is hard sometimes. But when we use humour as a way to open up big conversations, that’s when I believe real connection and learning happens.

Fannies and Flapjacks/Fizz is proof that there is a need for safe, non-medicalised places to learn about our health and when you add play into the mix, then this will be an unstoppable force for engaging us into health promotion.

I’ve curated an event that doesn’t follow the usual script and this feels scary for me professionally but I need to follow my gut and my values as a nurse. It might not be your mainstream chat, but these conversations are incredibly important and have been instrumental to my own sense of well-being when I couldn’t get answers from the mainstream conversations.

✨ This night is for women at every stage of life, we’ve had 19 year olds to 76!
✨ With fizz, posh snacks, and that all-important feeling of a girls’ night out to truly let our hair down.
✨ And it’s all in aid of an incredible charity funding vital research into women’s health.

🎟 Your ticket includes a £5 donation, and there’ll be a raffle on the night too. We need this research to ensure we close the gap in women’s health and ensure we live our lives with more quality years.

Early bird tickets will save you a whopping £15 so head to the Eventbrite app and search Fannies and Fizz, or just click the link in my bio.

I can’t wait to see you there , creating change, raising money, and having a bloody fabulous night out. 🍾

Most importantly, we are raising money for a charity that funds the gaping hole in women’s health research-
I want conditions that affect me, my mother, grandmother, and daughter to be better understood and that starts with funding that research, which has been ignored for far too long.

Early Bird tickets are on sale till 10th August and these are limited!
