Dates for all group courses are now live for booking right up to April 2026 (I know, I can’t believe it either!).

I recommend booking a course that falls when you are between 20-30 weeks pregnant, but there is no such thing as too late!

On my website (link in bio) you will find lots more information about what is covered in both course types, plus booking links. If you are at all unsure which course is right for you, or you want to find out more, then you can always book a free discovery call (link also in bio), or drop me an email at jessica@calmnestbirthing.co.uk

Due to the summer holidays and my own holiday there is no Mumma Meet walk in August, sorry 😔 But we will be back in September and I can’t wait to see you all, and welcome some new arrivals! Here are the next two dates for your diary, in September and October.
As the weather changes I am going to look to move the walks to somewhere with more inside space, but I am just checking out some good buggy friendly walks for you! Some keep a look out for any venue changes. Jess xx

7 years ago we found out we were expecting our first baby ❤️ We were lucky enough to be on holiday to the STUNNING Slovenia. It feels like yesterday but also a lifetime ago.

If I could go back in time to my first pregnancy I would…

*Not worry about going overdue, knowing induction is a choice to decline. Induction was a fear of mine!
*Go for a home birth! Why save the best for ‘next time’?!
*Spend more time learning about breastfeeding and common problems. I put in loads of birth prep but neglected the after bit, and trying to navigate them in the post partum fog is hard!
*Film my birth! I love looking back at Millie’s but I didn’t film Poppy’s.
*read about matrescence and prepare myself better for postpartum

I was really lucky that I did prep really well for my first birth. I took a hypnobirthing course alongside NCT, read lots of books and committed hard to practicing the hypnobirthing tools. But there are still things I wish I had known!

What advice would you like to go back and give yourself ahead of your first birth?

Sorry, I know that’s hard to hear! It’s what we know and doing it seems to neatly tick the birth prep box ✅ For what it’s worth I did do an NCT course when I was first pregnant, and I did meet some life long friends BUT I was the only one who also did a full 4 week hypnobirthing course. And guess what, I was the only person out of 6 women who had the straightforward birth we all went in hoping for. It’s not luck, it’s changing mindset, practicing hypnobirthing, knowing your options, knowing how to say no to interventions that are not medically necessary, learning how to advocate for what you want and preparing your birth partner to be your birth cheerleader. If you want to make friends and learn how to be a yes man patient for the maternity system, choose NCT. If you want to make friends and learn how to smash your birth, choose a full course with Calm Nest OR at least tag a Calm Nest Workshop course on to the mainstream 💪 If you want to talk more about the differences or find out about my courses then please visit my website for more info or to book a free discovery call! 📞

I often talk about the importance of staying off your back/bum/coccyx during birth. This is because those positions mean baby has less room and a more uphill journey to make through your pelvis. HOWEVER it is worth noting that doesn’t really apply in water! The buoyancy and freedom to float up that being in water gives you means you won’t have the same pressure on your coccyx. Water has so many benefits for being able to move instinctively as well as reducing your chance of tears and assisted birth.

Are you hoping to birth in water? Have you been told you ‘can’t’ do some reason? If so then it may be worth questioning that advice.

I still go back to these podcasts all the time. I believe podcasts are SUCH a useful way to expand our knowledge. They give summarised, evidence based information in a really easily digestible format that you can listen to while driving, walking, cleaning, because let’s face it who has time to read 20 pregnancy books!

Ok, so you may not get time to listen to them all, but you can cherry pick the things most relevant to you. For example…

If you are writing your birth plan then listen the episodes on the pros and cons of vaginal exams, monitoring in labour, pain relief options, place of birth…

If you are planning a caesarean then episodes about what to expect, choices available and recovery are for you!

If you have been told you are high risk for a certain reason such as gestational diabetes, IVF, or big baby, then seek them out.

Enjoy! Jess xx

This course is ideal for…

1st time parents who are too time short for the full course, who want to tag hypnobirthing and decision making onto a more mainstream course such as NCT, or those who only fancy one day of birth prep!

AND next time parents who didn’t use hypnobirthing previously, those who want a refresher, who want a different birth experience to before, or who just want to feel more informed and in control this time around.

This short, cost effective, course packs A LOT of punch and will send you away feeling hugely informed and prepared.

The course takes place at my home in Yateley so you are in a comfortable environment to relax, take in the information and gain from the experience or questions of the other members of the course. I provide drinks, snacks and breaks in the day so all you need is yourself ☺️

If you are unsure if this is the right course for you, or a 1:1 is not your thing, then please do get in touch. I offer free discovery calls for you to find out more with zero pressure to book.

With nearly half of all births ending up in caesareans more women than ever are having to face the decision of what to do for subsequent births.

When you are deciding if a VBAC vs planned caesarean is the right thing for you it is important to understand what ALL your options are, what the truths are around the ‘risks’ and what the many factors that may impact your chances of a successful VBAC are!

That is why I have designed one of my 4 hour Hypnobirthing Workshops specifically around vaginal birth after caesarean. So if you are planning a VBAC, or wondering what to do, then give this post a read and get in touch today to find out how I can help.

Remember, I offer free no obligation discovery calls (link in bio) so you have nothing to loose if you want to pick my brain for free for 20 minutes and then go away and decide if you want more!

Let’s get planning your amazing VBAC!

We gather just at the front of the cafe, do a couple of loops of the lake, and then back to the cafe for coffee and chatting.
