I still go back to these podcasts all the time. I believe podcasts are SUCH a useful way to expand our knowledge. They give summarised, evidence based information in a really easily digestible format that you can listen to while driving, walking, cleaning, because let’s face it who has time to read 20 pregnancy books!

Ok, so you may not get time to listen to them all, but you can cherry pick the things most relevant to you. For example…

If you are writing your birth plan then listen the episodes on the pros and cons of vaginal exams, monitoring in labour, pain relief options, place of birth…

If you are planning a caesarean then episodes about what to expect, choices available and recovery are for you!

If you have been told you are high risk for a certain reason such as gestational diabetes, IVF, or big baby, then seek them out.

Enjoy! Jess xx

This course is ideal for…

1st time parents who are too time short for the full course, who want to tag hypnobirthing and decision making onto a more mainstream course such as NCT, or those who only fancy one day of birth prep!

AND next time parents who didn’t use hypnobirthing previously, those who want a refresher, who want a different birth experience to before, or who just want to feel more informed and in control this time around.

This short, cost effective, course packs A LOT of punch and will send you away feeling hugely informed and prepared.

The course takes place at my home in Yateley so you are in a comfortable environment to relax, take in the information and gain from the experience or questions of the other members of the course. I provide drinks, snacks and breaks in the day so all you need is yourself ☺️

If you are unsure if this is the right course for you, or a 1:1 is not your thing, then please do get in touch. I offer free discovery calls for you to find out more with zero pressure to book.

My next group antenatal class in Yateley takes place over 4 Thursday evenings in July. If you want a social course that will give you the birth and postnatal preparation information that REALLY matters then this is the course for you. The content of other mainstream courses will leave you lacking in some really important topics (therefore if you have booked NCT or similar I would HIGHLY recommend booking one of my workshops alongside it).
The next one will be in October, so if you are due between August and early November then this July course is the one for you. If you are due in late November through to early February then dates for October will be coming soon.
If you have any questions at all about the course and if it’s right for you then please get in touch. I am always happy to have a free discovery call to explore further. Otherwise, you can find the booking link for the course in my bio.

Saying you will go with the flow and not doing any research to form an opinion on how you feel about things that might be offered or suggested to you in birth makes the assumption that the things suggested by your caregivers will always be in the best interest of you, your baby and your birth experience. Sadly, that is not the case. The maternity system is a conveyor belt. One that predominately offers a one size fits all approach with many recommendations going against physiological birth and not being based on good evidence. SO, it’s ok not to want a strict birth plan, and instead go with the flow of your birth BUT you won’t have the time, or likely the inclination, to research each decision during the course of birth. So do your prep before! Educate yourself and know the pros and cons, your rights and options, at each point and THEN go with the flow making really good informed decisions along the way!

The choices we make in birth and how we feel about birth can make a huge difference to how birth pans out. Yes, on occasions there are true birth emergencies that no amount of positive birth prep can counteract, but they are VERY rare. More often than not when we look deeper at the ‘emergency’ or trauma that someone experienced there are clues to the fact it was quite possibly a byproduct of their environment, an intervention or how they were feeling. So next time someone starts telling you a birth horror story consider gaining the full picture before filing it in your minds ‘birth should be feared’ folder. And remember, we don’t have to listen! If you are preparing for a positive birth you may want to avoid the negatives, so asking them to share it at a later date is ok!
