It doesn't seem possible, but I started Just Write over 10 years ago in 2011.
I have helped countless children (and saved a lot of parental stress!), and have supported many adults too, in their desire to improve their handwriting.
But the time has come for me to put my pencils back into their pencil case and hang up my gown (metaphorically speaking!)
I am so grateful to my students, past and present, who have been fun, engaged and made my task so much easier. Thank you for your positive feedback and occasional progress reports too. It was heartwarming to see how students have gained confidence through their improved writing, and in some cases have made stunning improvements to their overall learning. My hope is that having such confidence means that handwriting is no longer the chore it once was.
I shall remember you all and wish every one of you the success you deserve. It has been my pleasure to teach you. As a final reminder - don't forget the' 4 Ps' and the 'S Factors for Success' that we learned together! Handwriting is a skill for life. Don't let it fade away.

Hello, it has been a long time coming, but I am pleased to say that I am able to take students again (with appropriate Covid-19 precautions), from 1st June 2021, which is half-term. Thanks to those who have already contacted me (I will be in touch) and I look forward to welcoming new enquirers. I am planning extra sessions during the summer holidays too, to give your child a handwriting head start before school begins again in September, so I look forward to hearing from you!

Just Write is affected by the Covid lockdown, as are many other businesses. Regrettably, like many of them, I have to close (again) for the forseeable future. To my clients, thank you for your continued support. To my potential clients, thank you for your amazing patience. Remedial handwriting is a one-to-one teaching activity, combining elements of educational therapy, educational psychology and physical exercises. It is not the same as writing practise, which can be achieved with exercises downloaded from the internet, although it is an interim solution you could try. I am really looking forward to the time we can resume one-to-one sessions again. Remember - Just Write will help achieve positive results where other methods fail. Keep checking back to see when I have started teaching again. Hope to hear from you! Yvonne.

Are you looking for things to do for your family over the Summer Holidays? Well here is one idea for your list - after all the activities, and driving from one thing to another, include some quiet time to practise handwriting ready for the new school year.
Handwriting is a skill that has to be learned, no matter which hand is used. Young wrist, hand and finger muscles may not develop the strength and dexterity to hold a pencil or pen at the same rate as the muscles required to tap a screen or keyboard. Compare your youngster’s writing against how good they are with a keyboard to see the effect! Like not practising a musical instrument, our muscles “forget” how to write over the holidays.
As a National Handwriting Associating trained tutor, my lessons always incorporate physical hand exercises to ensure the right muscle groups begin to develop, as well as being fun and motivational. Handwriting is certainly not boring here!

Make a note of the date: Tuesday 23rd January. It’s National Handwriting Day.
Write a letter to an old friend; hand write your next business agenda; make a list in your best handwriting; write a word that means something to you in the middle of a blank A4 piece of paper - there are lots of things you can do. Universities may allow laptops to supersede handwriting, which they say is becoming less relevant today.
I think that the skill of handwriting is the ultimate portable tool. It requires only a writing instrument and something to write on. It never needs charging or new batteries. It still works when wet and can never be left on the train!

Hello, my name is Yvonne, and I am a mother of two grown-up children and have a left-handed husband! I am a special needs educator with 22+ years’ teaching and tutoring experience. My passion is helping people of all ages with their handwriting, so no-one needs to feel excluded from the great opportunities that learning better writing techniques will bring. This was my motivation for starting Just Write.

I have worked in schools from nursery, primary (foundation plus KS1 and KS2) and secondary, working with children and young adults to GCSE level. I held a post at a private prep school for 10 years. Until recently, I was teaching part-time at a local primary school. Now I am totally committed to Just Write – and that means helping you! I keep current with the curriculum, with all its twist and turns, and up to date with general educational trends. Having a broad range of educational skills is essential as everyone’s handwriting needs are different.

I hold qualifications from the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Centre and the National Handwriting Association, with whom I successfully completed intensive training on the teaching of handwriting in order to be registered with them as a tutor. We covered a wide range of topics from managing physical restrictions to many less understood aspects and barriers to achieving good handwriting – there is more to teaching handwriting than you might think! Of course, I have a CRB check and the necessary insurances.
