The Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) is a crucial service for anyone who has experienced sexual assault, offering confidential, comprehensive support across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

The SARC service provides survivors of all ages and all genders with a full assessment, they can offer emergency contraception, Hep B and PEP and can support with signposting for the client to specifically tailored physical and psychological support services, in a safe, non-judgmental environment.

Individuals can self-refer; it is not necessary to go through the police. They also accept third party referrals with the client’s consent. Any children accessing the service have safeguarding referrals completed for them, and anyone under the age of 13 will be seen with a paediatrician.

For those who are unsure about reporting an assault to the police, the centre offers a unique solution. Forensic samples can be stored securely for up to two years, (or two years post twenty-first birthday) giving survivors the time and space to make their decision.

They are open every day of the year, twenty-four hours a day. The SARC is staffed by highly trained clinicians who conduct the forensic medical examinations and crisis workers who provide immediate support for both recent and historical
assaults. The SARC’s option of self-referral empowers individuals to take control of their recovery on their own terms.

Our incredible team are essential in saving and improving the lives of our patients in our communities through the whole spectrum of ages. They are often the first point of contact for patients and play a crucial role in diagnosis, treatment, recovery and emotional well-being.

We have Phlebotomists, Health Care Assistants, Practice Nurses, Specialist Diabetic and Paediatric Nurses, Advanced Nurse and Clinical Practitioners, Mental Health Practitioners, Paramedic Practitioners, Pharmacy Team and Clinical Pharmacist and Orthopaedic Practitioners.

Healthcare can be a challenging but very rewarding profession and I want to thank them for their dedication, strength and compassion."

🚨Important advice about nasal decongestant sprays & drops 🚨

Products containing Xylometazoline hydrochloride or Oxymetazoline hydrochloride can help relieve a blocked nose caused by colds, flu, or allergies — but they should only be used short-term.

☑️ Use exactly as directed in the Patient Information Leaflet and packaging
☑️️ Do not exceed the recommended dose
☑️ Leave the recommended time interval between doses
❗Do not use for more than 5 consecutive days

Using these sprays for too long can cause:

👃Rebound congestion (your nose becomes blocked again)
👃Rhinitis medicamentosa (persistent nasal irritation/swelling caused by overuse)
👃Tachyphylaxis (your body stops responding as well to the medicine)

You may also experience a runny nose, sneezing, itching, or irritation — which can make it feel like you need to keep using the spray.

North Hampshire Urgent Care (NHUC) provides out of hours urgent medical care for people who are feeling unwell and are not able to see their own doctor because the surgery is closed.

If you require urgent medical advice or treatment please call NHS 111 and your problem will be assessed by trained call handlers who will advise you on the best course of action to get the appropriate help you need.
