Thinking of buying a horse?
Amazing. Love that for you.
Just a tiny heads-up first…

Buying a horse is a bit like:

Getting a second full-time job

Adopting a very large toddler

Entering a long-term relationship with mud

And voluntarily donating all spare income to the universe

You will tell yourself things like:

“I’ll just pop to the yard for half an hour.”

This is a lie.

You will also say:

“I won’t need much stuff.”

Another lie.
Your horse will need rugs for:

Rain

No rain

Cold

Mild cold

Wind

Emotional reasons

You will become:

Weirdly knowledgeable about poo 💩

Able to smell rain before the Met Office

Comfortable standing in a field questioning your life choices at 6am

Deeply attached to an animal that regularly tries to kill itself with a bucket

Holidays will now mean:

Finding cover

Feeling guilty

Checking the yard WhatsApp

Wondering if they miss you (they don’t)

BUT…
Despite the mud.
Despite the cost.
Despite the emotional rollercoaster and the “why am I like this” moments…

There will be that look.
That soft nose.
That quiet moment where they choose you.

And suddenly you’ll understand why horse people are the way they are.

So yes.
Buy the horse.

Just know…
You’re not buying a pet.

You’re buying a lifestyle, a personality trait, and a very muddy soul connection 😂🐴💛

🩸 Blood Donors Needed For Our Database🩸

Unfortunately, there is currently a shortage of pet blood - particularly red blood cells - and so we have been having difficulty sourcing any from our usual supplier, Pet Blood Bank UK

We would love to have a list of some of our lovely patients who would be willing to be a donor in an emergency situation, should another of our patients need any.

🐶 For dogs, the ideal donor would be: 🐶

❤️ Between the age of 1 and 8 years old
❤️ Fully fit and healthy, and weighing over 25kgs
❤️ Have never travelled outside of the UK
❤️ Not on any medication and be fully vaccinated
❤️ Have a good temperament and not get stressed when at the vets

🐱 For our feline patients, the ideal cat donor would be: 🐱

❤️ Between the ages of 1 and 10 years old
❤️ Fully fit and healthy, and weighing over 4kgs
❤️ Up to date with flea, worming and vaccinations
❤️ Never travelled outside of the UK
❤️ Not on any medication currently, and have never had a blood transfusion themselves

If you feel your pet would be the perfect candidate, we would be extremely appreciative, so please message us. This way we can make a note on your account and also add you to our database.

Did you know the UK is home to three native species of snake? The grass snake, the adder and the very rare smooth snake.

UK snakes can be found in a variety of habitats, from heathland to woodlands, and deserve to be celebrated! We're working across the UK to help our reptilian residents thrive. 💚

With our support, a group of volunteers in a Northamptonshire village has been working to protect local adders - thickening hedgerows to stimulate movement and encourage them to mate.

The adders can also make themselves at home by slithering into one of the two log-pile hibernacula volunteers have built. These shelters are refuges for animals, offering them a safer place to rest. 🏠

Today’s card is 🖤Black Annis 🖤
(She’s also called Black Anna, Black Anny, Black Agnes & Cat Anna or Catharine Annis)

Black Annis is a blue faced winter hag who is said to haunt the Dane Hills of Leicestershire & the gateway to Leicester Castle.

💗Although a winter hag, she would have a summer form as a lovely maiden; whose character is as opposite as her appearance. It’s thought that Black Annis’ husband may have been Leicester’s Bel (Bright) for whom the bel fires are lit at Beltane. 💗

💗The Divinatory Meaning (of this)Black Annis (card (meaning “the right way up)) is said to bring the winter & is said that she holds the dead in her embrace. In this card, we meet the blue faced hag of the Goddess, who presides over the winning down of the year, dissolution, decay & conclusion. 💗

Now this may seem depressing upon 1st sight; especially as here in the UK this feels like our summer sun has just arrived! ☀️
But this card isn’t about the summer sun ending with winter soon on its way! This card is actually a very ✨positive & liberating ✨ one when we accept its Divinatory meaning!

💗Black Annis is asking for you to recognise that one phase of your life is ending. That a situation has come to a natural end. And while this ending may not be what you want, what you planned for, nor necessarily chose, it asks you to acknowledge that one thing must end for another to begin & that the wheel must & does continually turn. (And with this acceptance it will move forward & not back!)

To resist this ending, this change, will only cause you greater suffering & is futile. If you accept that the wheel continues to turn & that change is inevitable, this card is extremely liberating & positive; knowing that “bigger & better” things are on their way!!💗

✨In addition to this Goddess card, I was guided to pull a “word of the day” Angel Card & today’s one is ✨Intention✨
Which I think coupled with Black Annis is extremely potent & apt! Set your intentions for the day, be present & try not to live in the past or future. To be present will enable that wheel to move onwards today & help bring forward that new “thing”! ✨
