Julia’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, specialised type of massage that uses very light, rhythmic, pumping-moves on the skin to stimulate the body’s lymphatic system — which is responsible for draining waste, excess fluid and helping immune functions.
Unlike deeper pressure massage methods which target muscles, MLD works mainly on the superficial lymph vessels just under the skin.
Who is it for?
MLD can benefit a wide range of people. Some of the people who may particularly benefit include:
• Individuals with swollen limbs or edema (including those with lymphoedema)
• People recovering from surgery (especially where swelling or lymph disturbance is expected)
• People experiencing fluid retention (e.g., puffiness after long flights, pregnancy/post-natal swelling)
• People with skin concerns (e.g., puffiness, post-injury scarring, cellulite) looking for non-muscular massage methods
