Alongside some wonderful local podiatrists, I’m proud to be part of a volunteer service providing essential foot care to those in need. It’s such a privilege to use our skills to make a difference in people’s comfort, mobility, and wellbeing. 💙

Ingrowing Toenail, fear not , we have you covered!

Not all heroes wear capes… some wear hard hats and woolly beanies! 🧶👷‍♂️

These two happy toes are recovering beautifully after nail surgery — and clearly doing it in style!

If your toenail is giving you trouble, nail surgery is often a quick, comfortable solution — and we promise, no dress code required 😉

The session this morning was especially busy for Helen, the podiatrist from Forgotten Feet - Helping Homeless Feet, who had a queue of 7 people, many with very sore feet, waiting to be treated. To quote Helen: "Whilst volunteering my podiatry skills this morning, I was reminded that volunteering is not a sacrifice but a privilege: a chance to restore comfort, confidence, and independence for our community, one step at a time. My colleagues and I offer our skills on a fortnightly basis, which is becoming more and more popular." A big thank you to Helen and her fellow podiatry volunteers..

🚨 Did you know?
Podiatrists aren’t just here for nails, corns, and calluses – we also play a crucial role in spotting the early signs of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD).

Your feet and lower limbs can reveal the first warning signs of circulation problems, and as podiatrists, we are specially trained to assess blood flow, check pulses, and pick up changes that might otherwise go unnoticed.

👣 Regular foot checks = early detection = better outcomes.

If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or a history of smoking, routine podiatry visits could make all the difference.

👉 Trust your podiatrist – we’re the go-to professionals for keeping your feet healthy and protecting your overall circulation.

The American Heart Association explains peripheral artery disease (PAD) as a type of occlusive disease that affects the arteries outside the heart and brain. The most common cause is atherosclerosis -- fatty buildups in the arteries.

Today is Martha's 18th birthday and today the NHS have announced that Marthas Rule will be rolled out across all NHS settings.

Martha's Rule was introduced in 2023 following the tragic death of Martha Mills, a 13-year-old who died from sepsis in 2021 at King’s College Hospital, London.

Sepsis is something we talk about frequently and without knowing the signs and symptoms, the outcome can be fatal.

The rule allows patients and their families to directly request an urgent second opinion or rapid clinical review from an independent senior medical team if they feel that their concerns about a patient’s deterioration are not being addressed.

Me, you, family or friend will at some point be a patient so familiarise yourself with the rule that Martha's family have worked so hard to have put in place.

🌿 Lunch Break Walkies = Happy Feet! 🚶‍♀️👣
Taking a moment each day to get outside, stretch the legs, and move is one of the simplest ways to care for your feet—and your overall wellbeing.
As a podiatrist, I see firsthand how regular, gentle activity like walking can help prevent foot pain, improve circulation, and keep those joints moving smoothly.

Swipe through to see a few snaps from today’s lunchtime stroll — proof that staying active doesn’t need to be complicated. Just comfy shoes, a bit of time, and some fresh air! 🌤️🦶

✨ Your feet carry you through life—treat them well.

We feel passionately that Reflexology and other Complementary Therapies play an important role in dealing with today's stressful and busy world, whilst we do not propose that these replace orthodox treatments but they can complement conventional medicine nicely and help deal with the modifiable risks which can lead to more serious health complications such as high blood pressure.

South Devon Podiatry is based in Ivybridge, nestled between Dartmoor and the beautiful South Devon coast meaning we are best placed to offer home visitations within South Devon.
