In order to heal you must first feel safe.

This might be healing physically from an injury or illness. Maybe healing needs to happen in the mind, after long term stress or anxiety. Often healing needs to happen to the person as a whole. We all need to heal.

There are many tools available to us aimed at relaxing the body and mind. These can be wonderfully effective and whether you find massage, reiki, acupuncture, walking, meditation, yoga... (the list goes on and on...) are right for you, it is imperative that you feel safe in your body, in your environment and in your own mind, before you can really being any healing process.

When was the last time you danced around your kitchen? Or marched up a hill? Or sat crossed legged on the floor playing with your children or grandchildren?

Does the thought of doing something like this fill you with dread? Does your body feel like it may never move freely again?

The longer that your muscles and soft tissue hold tension, the less agile you become. It can soon become a negative spiral of aching, pain and less and less movement.

Perhaps you are already limiting what movement you do as you worry it will cause pain?

Holistic massage therapy can be an excellent tool in easing this tension. I work with many people to slowly but surely help them back to a state of comfortable movement.
