Lots of businesses are slashing prices this week…
Meanwhile at Emerald First Aid Training, the only thing we’re interested in slashing is poor-quality training (and maybe a few bandages).

We don’t do Black Friday discounts — not because we’re boring, but because our courses are genuinely top-notch all year round.

Quality training doesn’t come in a bargain bucket. 😉

So if you want training that’s excellent 365 days a year, not just discounted for one day, we’ve got you covered!

Tonight we had the pleasure of providing a team of 4x to attend the Yeovil Xmas lights switch on, run by Yeovil Town Council and alongside our good friends at T.R.U Event Security and Consultancy. Peaceful from our end and now we look forward to the Xmas lights switch on in Crewkerne on Friday

🎶 It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas (we know you just sang that in your head) 🤣🤣

Last week we had the pleasure of delivering 21x major trauma kits to Bridgwater and Taunton College Academy Trust.

The mixture of Critical Injury and PaCT kits will be distributed around the schools within the trust, and we have added a number of training courses throughout the school year so that staff know how and when to use these. All in preparation and response to Martyn’s Law.

Tonight we’re back at our spiritual home Huish Park Yeovil for tonight’s game Yeovil Town FC vs Wealdstone FC.

The plan as always is to enjoy the match but rest assured if we’re needed in any capacity, we’re here. Good luck to both teams 👍

Over the past few days, the European Resuscitation Council and Resuscitation Council UK have updated their guidance and we have been going through it with interest. We are still awaiting confirmation and timescales from our awarding body but the main changes and takeaways are:

⚡️ Defibrillation pad position is demonstrated nearer to the casualties armpit than previously shown

👶 slight change in age definition of under 18’s
Infant = under 1
Child = 1 to 12
Adolescent = 13 to 18
And from that adolescent CPR depth should be the same as adults (5-6 cm)

👶 CPR in babies is now with hands encircling the casualty and using two thumbs - previously two fingers (positioning is still the same)

👦🧒 Ratio in babies and children has been revised to 15:2 compressions to breaths with 5 rescue breaths first. (Although confusion within the industry as to whom should be using this ratio)

There are other changes that many wont need to know but the important part of all of this is to recognise that someone is in a life threatening position.

We will be working with our awarding body to implement changes to assessment criteria and their plan is early 2026 for these changes to be reflected in training.

A big day coming up in a few weeks within the first aid industry - updated guidelines are being published on Monday 27th October.

These guidelines are updated every 5 years (if it’s not Covid season) and is always interesting to see what the latest stats and statistics are surrounding CPR. Whilst any changes will take time to implement into training, this is a must-have document for anyone training life saving skills and it ensures that we are training the most up to date information to our learners

📅 Save the date!

We’re pleased to announce that the updated UK Resuscitation Guidelines will be published at midday on Monday 27 October 2025.

The revised guidelines will reflect the latest evidence and best practice in resuscitation science across all age groups. They are designed not only to improve survival and outcomes following cardiac arrest, but also to enhance patient and family experiences through compassionate, person-centred care.

Stay tuned for more details.

🚗 The DVLA have added CPR and Defibrillator questions to driving theory tests from 2026!! ⚡️

💚 We have long felt that more could be done as other countries have a first aid certificate as part of applying for a driving licence and this is a great move to raise awareness and the need for early CPR and defibrillation in the event of cardiac arrest.

We think this is a great first step towards more people being aware and in turn should save more lives ❤️

Great to see these popping up all over our local community
