SO this week on the mat, we had echo's from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, cultivating the qualities of the heart. And what a beautiful practice it has been. And it lead me back to the pure joy that is sharing yoga with everyone, but especially with children. There is a quiet wisdom in children, that often goes unnoticed...not because it is hidden, but because it is so natural, that many adults have forgotten how to see it. Children really do show the way, they are a guiding light and for me a constant source of inspiration.
They sleep when they are tired, without shame. They cry when they are hurt, without apology. They laugh when they feel joy, without restraint. We all have this innate child-like original intelligence, but often it is lurking in the shadows of adulthood. I definitely need a reminder and if you do too, here it is ...
Sleep when you are tired - Cry when you need and most of all -
Laugh without reason. Let joy find you in the simple places, the dappled sunlight through the trees, a shared glance, a silly memory. Joy doesn't need a reason, it just needs room.
We simply need to return to what we knew as children. Time on the mat for our yoga practice brings awareness and with it space. May your weekend be a reminder to live like you once did...Free. Honest and Alive. Paula x
