Green Yoga Crow

Green Yoga Crow Hi, my name is Paula and here at Green Yoga Crow we practice yoga for children and adults in and around Somerset.

We move, laugh, breathe, connect and find a little space and stillness for ourselves so that we can live our best lives.

Do I always want to get on my mat every single morning?...NO! Most mornings my head has so many excuses as to why I shouldn't roll out my mat🤣-I have learnt over the years to not listen to my head and just get on and do it. For some of my students, this seems an impossibility to do yoga EVERY day, but it doesn't need to be this way. If you start your day with yoga, you will begin to feel a transformation - first to your day, then your week, months and years. It doesn't need to be for long, it just needs to be consistent. 5 or 10 minutes a day is all you need to begin.
I am away this week, so there are no yoga classes, but perhaps you may like to try this Compass of Love by the wonderful Gabrielle Harris everyday this week and see how you feel by the time we meet on the mat next week?
Sending you all much love, Paula x

One of my favourite meditations that I return to again and again.

A compass is a symbol — a quiet reminder that we are on the right path. That we are guided, supported, and held in this life, no matter which way we turn.

Try this simple practice:

Turn your head to the right
The East symbolises new beginnings
Breathe in
Breathe out
Send love to all who walk beside you and support you
Return your head to centre
Breathe in
Breathe out

Turn your head to the left
The West symbolises endings and release
Breathe in
Breathe out
Send love to all who have walked with you, in this life or beyond
Return your head to centre
Breathe in
Breathe out

Lift your head upward
The North symbolises guardianship
Breathe in
Breathe out
Send love to those who watch over you
Return your head to centre
Breathe in
Breathe out

Bring your chin gently towards your chest
The South symbolises self nourishment
Breathe in
Breathe out
Send gratitude to yourself for showing up
Send love and appreciation to all that you are
Return your head to centre
Breathe in
Breathe out

You might like to pair this with gentle neck stretches, throat massage, or myofascial release into the occiput, frontalis, and temporalis.

I’ll be exploring MYO + Yin in my upcoming Yin series.
Join one or come along for the full journey.

Each class includes a downloadable recording to keep, a detailed lesson plan, and plenty of ideas to take straight into your own teaching.

Come and join me on the mat this evening or tomorrow morning. Our shared yoga will allow us to focus on presence. Allow the body to unwind, the mind to settle. Let go, for a short time of anything in the past or of anything yet to come and bask in the warmth of a yoga practice.

There is huge value in taking time to simply stand and stare...to witness the amazingness of our surroundings. It can be tricky though in our digital age to remember to look around. Wishing you all a little time over the Easter weekend to enjoy those moments and simply stare. No classes tonight and tomorrow, but back on the mat with you all next week. Paula ###

I spend a looong time ruminating and planning our shared yoga classes. This week has been no exception. I’ve been working with a few students recently to use the magic and science of yoga to support lowering blood pressure through some simple breath practices. Did you know that Bhramari (or humming bee breath) lowers systolic and diastolic blood pressure as well as heart rate? It’s a beautiful practice to keep us in the now.
So for our classes this week, our focus is being in the present moment. Many people assume that because I am a yoga teacher and practice daily that I am somehow superhuman and impervious to getting caught up in the daily dramas of life!🤣 If you know me at all, you’ll know that’s a load of rubbish! So yesterday I took myself off into the woods to forage responsibly and spent a beautiful few hours being truly present. I came back with wild garlic and nettles and today I’ve made wild garlic and nettle soup, nettle tea and wild garlic pesto. Wild garlic is rich in antioxidants, which help reduce oxidative stress. Wild garlic may help lower the risk of long term health issues such as heart disease, arthritis and even some cancers…it helps reduce blood pressure and cholesterol too. So not only delicious, but so many benefits! If you find yourself dashing from one task to the next without really being present, just trying to get one thing done do you can move onto the next, then maybe a little yoga in your life is calling you?
Join me on the mat on Friday for your joyful dose of being in the moment and observe how amazing you feel afterwards.

Plans for the yoga retreat day are coming along beautifully. Our lunch will be grown and harvested at the venue and cooked by Ed the chef and owner of the retreat space. He's also got plans for baking something delicious for later on in the afternoon to keep us smiling. Hopefully over the next two weeks, I'll have everything finalised for our time to retreat together and bookings will be open for you to grab your spot. Happy weekend everyone 🥳
