Back again and looking fantastic!✨

Our lovely patient returned today to collect both pairs of her new spectacles — and she looks amazing! Thanks to Jacinda’s expert attention and care during her previous visit, she’s delighted with both the fit and clarity of her new varifocals. At this collection appointment, Caroline, our dispensing assistant, carefully checked the fit one final time and made sure the patient was completely happy before she left.

ACES appointments are designed to assess — and where possible, treat — sudden-onset eye symptoms that have developed within the last 7 days. You'll be seen within 72 hours by one of our fully trained optometrists, who will not only provide expert care but also approach your concerns with sensitivity and compassion.

We can help with things like:

- Red or painful eyes
- Sudden blurred vision or visual disturbances
- Flashes or floaters

A real-life reminder of why routine eye exams are so important. 👁️💚

This morning, we received a lovely message from a long-standing patient who came in for what she thought would be a routine sight test with our optometrist and practice partner, Ben Williams.

But this appointment turned out to be anything but routine. During the examination, Ben noticed something concerning—a horseshoe tear on her retina. This type of retinal damage can be very serious if not treated quickly, potentially leading to permanent vision loss. Thanks to Ben’s thorough examination and quick action, she was referred immediately to Yeovil District Hospital.

We’re so pleased to share that she received laser treatment that same afternoon—a swift and potentially sight-saving intervention.

What meant the world to us was the kind and thoughtful message she sent afterward, filled with praise for our team. She highlighted not only Ben’s clinical care and compassion, but also the warmth and efficiency of our reception team, who moved quickly to arrange the referral and treated her with kindness throughout.

“I’ve been coming to this opticians since I was 8 years old, and the care is phenomenal.”

☀️ Summer is the perfect time to book your child’s eye test — before the back-to-school rush begins! 👓📚

Good vision plays a vital role in your child’s learning, development, and confidence both in and out of the classroom. Many vision issues can go unnoticed, especially in younger children who may not realise they’re struggling to see clearly. That’s why regular sight tests are so important — even if there are no obvious symptoms.

We offer thorough, child-friendly eye exams in a relaxed environment to help make the experience as stress-free (and even fun!) as possible. 🧸💙

For children aged 5 and over, we can book an additional scan called the Optomap — giving us an even more detailed look at the back of the eye. It takes just a few seconds, is completely painless, and captures an ultra-wide image of the retina, helping us spot any potential issues before they become bigger problems.

This month marks an incredible milestone for our Practice Manager, Jacinda, as she celebrates 20 years with Robert Frith Optometrists.

Jacinda began her career in optics at just 18 and joined our Shaftesbury team at 21, where her passion for helping patients feel confident in their eyewear truly took shape. A few years later, she brought that same dedication to our Yeovil practice, where she qualified as a Dispensing Optician and became Practice Manager in 2013.

Over the years, Jacinda has consistently gone the extra mile for both patients and colleagues. Her warmth, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to improving people’s lives through better vision make her an invaluable part of our team.
