When 21-year-old service colleague Charlotte found £250 in ten pound notes on the floor of our Pershore supermarket she turned detective to track down the person who'd dropped it.

Charlotte stored the cash at the customer service desk and then scoured the store's CCTV camera recordings to identify the customer – someone who was a regular at the store. She said: “I was just at the back of the store near the yoghurts and I saw a ten pound note on the floor. I bent down and picked it up and then further along I saw a pile of notes all loose. It was all very strange. When we went back through the CCTV we could see the money on the floor and people were walking past it – they can’t have seen it. I then saw the lady it belonged to and recognised her as a regular. It looked like she’d had it loose in the bottom of a handbag and it had fallen through a hole.”

The customer later realised that the money was missing and returned to the store to see if it had been handed in. Store manager Nathan said: "Charlotte is a great colleague, very reliable and dependable. She's held in very high regard here. The lady was so, so grateful."

As part of our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign 22-year-old Hope is sharing her personal experience to encourage more young people to build a regular self-checking routine – and to show that finding something unusual doesn't always result in a breast cancer diagnosis.

Hope has got into a regular routine of checking herself after receiving text reminder messages and getting shower stickers from CoppaFeel! which are funded through our Tickled Pink campaign, which also supports Breast Cancer Now. It meant that when Hope noticed a small lump and increased sensitivity in her chest she was prompted to visit her GP. She said: "If it wasn't for that routine and the resources from CoppaFeel! I probably wouldn't have found the lump. That's why it's so important that people are knowledgeable on what to be aware of and that they have the confidence to go to the GP if they do find anything."

Hope was referred to a breast clinic in her home city of Liverpool and found out that it was nothing too serious. She said: "I'm so glad I got it checked out because you just never know. I was worried about wasting the doctors' time, but they kept telling me that I'd done the right thing. My message to anyone in that situation is that if something doesn't feel right then you should get it checked out. You have to put yourself first. But also I want more people to know that finding a lump isn't necessarily bad news."

Kellie and Vanessa from our Hailsham supermarket are proud to be supporting our Tickled Pink breast cancer charity campaign – and are using their personal experience to support any colleagues or customers who need it.

They've both had breast cancer and say the message put out by Tickled Pink and our charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel! about the importance of checking yourself regularly is so important. Kellie was diagnosed with breast cancer and endometrial cancer in June 2023 after she noticed a lump on her left breast. She's had chemotherapy and a mastectomy and has made an excellent recovery. She said: "My message for both men and woman out there is 'don't be scared'. People are scared to check themselves and are scared to go for a mammogram. It doesn't hurt and people are so lovely as they know what you are going through. Check yourself in the shower, the bath or at bedtime. If you feel something that's not right then please go to your doctor straight away."

Vanessa was diagnosed with breast cancer last year after a routine mammogram. She said: "I know people are really busy and just think everything is okay if you can't feel anything, but you should really attend those mammogram appointments. Mine was caught early thankfully so I didn't need chemotherapy." Store manager Tracy, pictured here with Vanessa and Kellie, said: "I can't put into words the fight, courage and bravery that Kellie and Vanessa have shown. The word courage means the ability to do something that frightens oneself and Kellie and Vanessa have courage like nothing that I have ever seen. It is a pleasure to work with these strong ladies."

When an elderly customer couldn't remember the PIN number on her bank card and was getting upset because she couldn't pay for her shopping our checkouts colleague Kim immediately stepped in to help.

Kim tried to calm the lady down, told her to take a minute in case the code came back to her, but when she still couldn't remember it and was getting upset as she had no-one to call or help Kim paid for it herself. She said: "She was looking in her purse and counting out pennies, but didn't have enough so I just thought if this was my mum what would I want someone to do. I had my debit card on me so asked the manager if it was ok that I used it to pay for her, and that's what I did. It meant a lot to her. If it was my mum I'd like to think someone would do the same if the circumstances arose."

Kim was awarded star points in recognition of her kindness which covered the cost of the shopping as well as a reward for going above and beyond. Asda Boldon's community champion Tracey said: "Kim's really modest and didn't want to make a fuss, but the lady was really overwhelmed by Kim's actions and could not thank her enough. Kim is our hero."

Look out for the wonderful volunteers who'll be joining Asda community champions like Jo from Asda Pwllheli to raise money and awareness for Tickled Pink in our stores this weekend.

Jo is a passionate advocate of our Tickled Pink campaign, which is now in its 29th year and supports charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!. She said: "I fundraise for Tickled Pink as I have lost so many of my loved ones to breast cancer. I know first hand the effects breast cancer has on families and that’s why I’m proud to support this very worthy cause – it's a charity close to my heart. We should all remember to look after ourselves and regular checks are essential for the early detection of cancer, so no matter your age please, please check your chests, b***s and pecs ... men too!"

More than 400 bucket collectors will be in stores this weekend to raise vital funds for world-class research and life-changing support services. One of the volunteers who will be helping Jo this weekend is Bethan-Mary. Jo said: "She is an amazing woman, an amazing breast cancer survivor who is a ray of sunshine. I'd like to thank each and every volunteer who help with our Tickled Pink collections and fundraising. It really does means so much as your support helps others to know the importance of early detection. Your experience and knowledge of what you have gone through inspires others to go and check themselves."

When home shopping driver Don from our Trafford Park store saw an 84-year-old man had taken a tumble he helped him into his house, cleaned him up, phoned for medics and then, after he'd finished his shift, went round with some fish and chips!

Don had just delivered a customer's shopping when he heard the gentleman trip on the pavement and hit his face as he headed to his front door. Don said: "I went over to see how he was, called 999 as I thought he should be checked over and got some tissues out of the van to clean up the bleeding. He was a bit wobbly, but I managed to get him into the house, sat him down and got him a coffee. When I finished my shift I thought I'd just get him some fish and chips. Medics had been and dressed his wounds and advised him to stay inside for a day. I just kept him company for a while and we had a nice chat and he told me that he lived on his own and had no family nearby. I saw him a few weeks later and he looked a lot better.

"The gentleman was very grateful and couldn't thank me enough, but I said to him that I just couldn't leave him."

Ninety-two-year-old widow Jean shops at our Queslett store every week and says our colleagues Chris and Martin are like a family to her.

She says they help her around the store in a wheelchair or motorist trolley, pick items from her shopping list from the shelves, and then load the shopping into her car. When Jean gets home a neighbour carries the shopping into her house. She said: "I like to have a chat with them when I go round as I really don't see many people. They couldn't be friendlier; they are like family. Everybody at Asda has been very, very good to me for years. They couldn't be kinder; I can't praise them enough."

Chris, who's worked at the store for 40 years, said: "She's a bit of character, she's been round the world with her late husband and looks so good for her age. She's a lovely lady. I know the shopping she gets so if it's not on her list I'll say 'do you need any cream or flowers', that sort of thing. She likes her chicken, cooked beef, teacakes and jam." And Martin said: "We just try to help Jean as best as we can and always have a little chat with her. She's such a lovely lady."

More than 200 much-loved products are turning pink in our stores this October to raise awareness of the importance of breast checking as part of our Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign.

Products including Diet Coke, Yorkshire Tea, Mr Kipling Viennese Whirls, Nescafe cappuccino sachets, McVitie's digestives, Shreddies, Pink Shloer Bubbly, Jammie Dodgers and Itsu Bao Buns are among those turning pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We've been working with suppliers to add a breast check message on packs too – 7up includes a “drink your lemons, check your melons” message and Kit Kat's iconic slogan has been updated to “have a break, have a check.”

This year is also a hugely exciting major milestone as our Tickled Pink campaign, which supports breast cancer charity partners Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!, has reached the landmark milestone of £100 million raised over the past 29 years. Emma Betts, Asda’s national charity partnerships manager, said: “We are proud to have so many of our suppliers supporting this year’s Tickled Pink campaign and turning their iconic brands pink. It’s set to be one of our biggest ever years with over 200 products available both in stores and online, giving customers the opportunity to donate by purchasing everyday household products and clothing items."

Asda colleague Steve stepped in to help a customer whose car wouldn't start after she'd just done a big shop in our Gillingham Pier store.

The lady was getting into a bit of a panic about not being able to get home and because her phone was about to run out of power while she needed to call her breakdown service. Steve reassured her, bought her a charger for her phone and plugged it in so she was able to call for assistance. He then put her frozen items in the freezer and chilled items in the chiller so they wouldn't be ruined by the time she got home.

The store's community champion Diana said: "The lady was so very grateful and offered to come in and pay him back, but Steve being Steve said there was no need and he would have done the same for anyone." Store manager Sheku has nominated Steve for an Asda service superstar award for his kindness, saying: "Steve is a very kind and generous person and I'm not surprised by his actions."

One of his chosen charities is the Yeovil Hospital Charity (and also the Blood Bikes), so he came in to help the hospital charity fundraise.

When home shopping driver Alan from our Thornaby store smelt gas at the home of one of our older customers he immediately got in touch with the National Gas Emergency Service whose engineers found a leak in the kitchen.

After they quickly repaired the leak the customer called the store to thank Alan and said: "I am totally overwhelmed at how his actions will have such a positive impact on my health and wellbeing."

Alan said: “When I called at the house there was really strong smell of gas. I used to work at a chemical plant so I knew it was gas. I warned the lady about lighting anything, especially as she had ci******es in her shopping delivery. I called the emergency number and they were at the property within an hour.”

Asda Thornaby's operations manager James, who nominated Alan for an Asda service superstar award, said: "Alan has potentially prevented a serious and dangerous incident with his vigilance and care. He could well have driven off without a second thought, but chose to take care of her well above his expected duties."

Porter Andrew from our Fareham store saved the day when he found a travel wallet containing $500 that a customer about to go on holiday to the United States had accidentally left in a trolley in the car park.

Andrew, who's worked at the store for 26 years, spotted the wallet and immediately handed it in to our customer service desk. He said: "I just saw it in the bottom of a trolley when I was tidying up. I recognised it as a travel wallet but didn't realise how much money was in it. I just took it straight into the store and handed it in as I knew someone would be looking for it."

The customer had collected the money from the store's travel bureau before getting some last-minute holiday shopping. Service team leader Jules said he'd phoned the store in a panic but was "over the moon" when she told him that it had been found. The gentleman later wrote to the store to thank Andrew, saying: "I have since spoken to him and thanked him for what he did and al he wanted to know was if I had a good holiday. A wonderful man."

When a customer in her 80s phoned our Trafford Park store to say she was having difficulty accessing her Asda account to do her online shopping, our colleague Aaron went round to her house to help her out personally.

Thirty-four-year-old Aaron, who's the store's ambient manager, said: "The lady has mobility issues and is only about ten minutes from the store so I thought it would be easier to go round there rather than trying to explain things over the phone. I found that the operating system on her Mac that she was using was quite old and she was having difficulty getting onto various sites including the Asda one. I ended up setting it up for her on her phone, tablet and another PC on the house so she could place her online orders again. She was over the moon."

Asda regional manager Sadia nominated Aaron for an Asda service superstar award and said: "This kind of behaviour is not out of character for Aaron who is always willing to help anyone in need. No job is too much for him."

Seventy-six-year-old checkouts colleague Linda from our Eastleigh store has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity by tackling a series of daredevil challenges – including her most recent adventure of performing a wing walk on a biplane as it did loop-the-loops and barrel rolls at 4,000ft.

Over the years Linda's trekked to Everest Base Camp, done a 100-mile trek along the Great Wall of China, cycled in Peru, Vietnam and Cambodia, paraglided off a mountain in Turkey, skydived, done various zip wires, flown a plane and even walked on hot coals. She's also completed various marathons and the Race for Life. She said: "I've done a lot of mad and crazy things over the years. I lost my husband, Russel, 32 years ago and we kept saying when the kids were older we'd do something but he died before they were old enough, so I decided to do some challenges and every one I've done has raised money for charity. They keep me out of mischief too. My motto is life is too short, get on with it, stop whinging about it and do something about it – and if it anyone else benefits then it's a double whammy."

Linda's a former college lecturer and has worked at Asda Eastleigh for 17 years. She said: "I went there to do one Christmas seasonal work and stayed! I enjoy working with my colleagues, I love them. When I tell them about my adventures some of them look at me in total disbelief, but they fully support me. I like dealing with the customers and talking to them too as I do like to chat! I work on the principle that if a customer goes out with a smile on their face then we have succeeded."

The store's customer manager Kerry said: "Linda's such an inspirational lady, she has so much energy. She bakes cakes every week for all the colleagues. Everyone loves her. She is such a lovely, lovely lady who will do anything for anyone. She is on the go non-stop and never sits down."

When an 83-year-old customer didn't answer her door as normal, home delivery driver Allan from our Swindon Haydon store sensed something was seriously wrong – and he was right as he saw the lady had fallen over her in her home and was unable to get up or phone for help.

Allan (pictured left), who's a former soldier, phoned 999 for an ambulance and then called the lady's son whose number was on the delivery contact details. He got the code for the key lock box and entered the house, in Wantage, accompanied by a neighbour. He didn't move the lady as he discovered that she had brittle bone disease and had fallen previously and broken her hip, but made her as comfortable as possible and chatted to her until the lady's son and medics arrived.

Allan said: "I just did what anyone else would have done, I couldn't just leave her. She was an absolutely lovely lady, a star." After hearing what had happened, Allan's colleague Arnas (pictured right), who'd finished for the day, headed over to help Allan complete the rest of the deliveries. The customer's son later praised Allan for his actions. He said: "I would like to commend Allan for what he did that day, he really went above and beyond. He called me for the key code so he was thinking outside of the box and using his initiative. He had a very caring philosophy." He said his mum was allowed home from hospital the next day.

We're proud to be launching a 28-piece collection of adult adaptive clothing which honours the legacy of breast cancer campaigner Nicky Newman.

The new range of adaptive clothing is aimed at people with additional needs that includes openings for feeding tubes, discreet pockets for stoma bags, easy on fastenings and metal-free zips. Back in March 2023, Nicky took to her Instagram to ask if she could partner with a brand to create an adaptive clothing range. She was listening to her community, who were going through intense treatment themselves and struggling to find clothing suitable and affordable for their treatment needs.

The range includes navy joggers (£16), that are metal free and have side zips at the waist, blue logo t-shirt (£11) that has easy PICC line access and a peg opening. Cream wide leg jogger (£16) that has a side zip at the waist, adjustable waist and a concealed stoma bag pocket. Palm springs cream hoody (£20) metal free, easy access to side seam and underarm zips. When a visually-impaired customer who was new to the area asked for assistance with her shopping and to learn the layout of our Arnold store, service colleague Lydia was more than happy to help.

Not only did she take the 70-year-old lady around the store to help her get her bearings with its layout, picking up her groceries from her shopping list and chatting as they went, but she also packed for her and then walked her to the bus stop. Lydia said: "She was a lovely lady and ever so pleasant. She was telling me that she normally went shopping with her brother but wanted to make herself more independent. I gave her some advice and said to her that if she ever needed help in the future to just ask and either myself or a colleague would help.

"When she said she going home on the bus but didn't know exactly where the stop was I just walked her to it to make sure she got it okay. Helping customers is part of our job, it's what we do. It's our duty to all customers. I do a lot for charities so helping people comes naturally to me."

When an autistic little boy started to get upset because the chocolate milkshake he wanted didn't arrive with his family's shop, delivery driver Semih from our Wrexham store quickly stepped in to help.

After delivering the rest of the family's shopping he got back in his van and bought the milkshake himself, before calling back at the house to drop it off.

The boy was so grateful to Semih that he sent him in a hand-drawn thank you card while his mum wrote a lovely letter, saying: "Semih went so above anything I would expect. A chocolate milkshake wasn't available so had been substituted. My son, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder, was crying when he found out. Semih was so kind and felt really bad about it. I told him not to worry and it was fine. The next thing I knew Semih is back with the milkshake after having bought it with his own money. I do believe that all good deeds should be rewarded."

Semih said: "They were a really nice family and I just wanted to help them out. It wasn't nice to see him so upset. Waiting for that one thing that wasn't in his basket must have been awful for him." Semih's been nominated for an Asda service superstar award for his kindness and Craig, the store's online trading manager, said: "Semih is a fantastic young lad who will do anything for anyone. We are always getting positive comments about him from customers."

Here's the moment our Kirkcaldy store's community champion Jean surprised Liza from Autism Rocks (Fife) with the news the charity had received £17,640 of funding from the Asda Foundation.

The charity is one of 79 community groups across the UK receiving a total of £1.25m from the Asda Foundation's Local Community Spaces fund. The grants are aimed at revitalising local spaces where people connect, access vital services and build stronger communities. The grant to Autism Rocks (Fife) will cover upgrades to the charity’s recently extended site, transforming an adjacent church into a calming, sensory-friendly environment, and funding the installation of essential safety fencing around the centre’s outside area. Liz said: "I was lost for words when I heard the news – it came as a massive surprise for us, and it’s one we’re hugely grateful to the Asda Foundation for."

Jean said: "It was a very emotional morning, something that made clear just how much this grant will impact the charity’s already amazing work, helping them go from strength to strength. I can’t wait to hear how the transformation progresses, and see how the improvements enhance the space for everyone who uses the centre."

Maternal instincts took over when checkouts colleague Becky from our Strood supermarket in Kent saw an 11-year-old girl getting upset because she'd accidentally brought an old £1 coin to buy a loaf of bread for her mum.

Becky said: "It was the first time that the girl had been shopping on her own and she got into a bit of a state. I have four daughters of my own and felt for her so I just paid for the shopping with my card. It's not nice to see a young kid upset. She was such a polite young lady."

The girl's mum posted in the local Facebook group Strood Life to praise Becky, saying: "I can't thank you enough for being so kind to her. She got really upset and cried all the way home. It was the first time she'd gone to buy bread on her own." Store manager Alex said: "This was an absolute selfless act of kindness from Becky whose customer service skills are brilliant. She's always happy, friendly and smiling and willing to help."

Our inspirational colleague Nikki has dropped five dress sizes after going on an incredible weight loss journey – and now she's become a personal trainer so she can help others.

Nikki, who works at our Gateshead store, says she's transformed her life and is feeling so much better for it. She said: "At my heaviest, I was nearly 18 stone and wearing size 22 in most clothes. I felt stuck, defeated, and unsure of where to turn next. After seeing a picture of myself supporting football in store, I realised it was time to do something about it."

So in 2021, a friend introduced her to One Take gym in Gateshead and everything started to change. What began as one bootcamp session a week turned into two. From there, she joined a small group doing weight sessions and connected with other women and now trains four or five times a week, as well as running her own classes twice a week on a voluntary basis after passing her Level 3 PT course.

Nikki said: "I feel fitter, stronger, and more capable in both work and life. My mission now is to help other women – especially those who feel unsure, ashamed, overwhelmed, or stuck – find their strength and take that first step like I did. I've even got my mum, Kim, who's 68, to go to my classes. My family are so proud of me and colleagues at the store has been so supportive."

Eighty-seven-year-old Asda customer Marian has been shopping at our Shepshed store since the day it opened – so when she started struggling to take her shopping home in her walking trolley our colleague Aiden volunteered to drop it off for her after he finished work.

Marian visits the store most days and has developed a close bond with Aiden over the eight years that he's worked there. She said: "I like Asda and don't go anywhere else. Aiden's very good and will do anything for you. All the staff down there are very nice – I don't think you could have any staff who are better. We all have a laugh, they all speak to me, and we get on lovely. I go there all the time. I like to get up and go for a walk and Asda draws me in! I like to have a chat with them and they make me so welcome. Aiden's help has made a lot of difference because I can't bring all my shopping without a car."

Aiden said: "She's such a lovely lady and I've always helped her with her shopping. Everyone here knows her. I just turned round to her one day and said 'Would you like this delivering?' and just started delivering it to her. Yesterday I took her some cooking apples and plums and she made some pies out of them for us, which we put in the colleague canteen. I will help anybody out, as it's just how I am. If someone can't reach something I'll get it off the shelves for them. You can't just leave someone struggling, can you?"

Richard loves putting smiles on the faces of customers at our Beeston supermarket in Leeds – with his Tannoy announcements often leaving them in stitches.

One customer was so impressed by Richard's friendly service that he sent in a thank you card saying "Smiling is contagious, pass it on! Because when saying the words out loud just isn't enough, putting it in writing is better! You have to know no matter how I am feeling on any given day, your happiness radiates, I think you are a fantastic people person and you don't realise the effect you have on customers. You really are an asset to Asda and I think you should be made aware of the great job you do!"

Richard, who's been at the store for 10 years, says he learned a lot when he was a boy by working his dad Mick's stall at Leeds Market. He said: "No-one wants to hear a monotonous voice, do they? I always try to inject a bit of personality and to make people smile. That was drilled into me when I was working for my dad. A happy customer will come back to you, so I will always do everything I can to make sure our customers feel happy and appreciated."

Deputy manager Adam said: "Richard's really good at his job and is just joyful on the Tannoy. He's a really happy person and customers are always telling us that he brightens up their day. When you're around him you can't help but smile – his personality is infectious."

Identical twins Pauline and Shirley live together, share the same interests ... and love working together at our Boldon store.

Shirley was the first sister there, starting 17 years ago, before Pauline – who's the older sister by 10 minutes – joined a year later. Pauline says that despite working together for 16 years many people still struggle to tell them apart: "We have slightly different glasses but that's about it. People still get us mixed up – we answer to Pauline or Shirley sometimes! But we get on well with everyone at work and all the customers – we love it here."

Shirley said: "Some customers will go to Pauline and ask where something is on the shelf and then will go to my checkout and thank me for helping them or say 'It can't be you! How did you get here so fast?' so I'll often get one of my colleagues to confirm that we're twins. As we're local we know quite a few of our customers anyway, and have got to know our regular customers really well. Working for Asda has been a godsend for Pauline and me and we think of them as just like family."
