It was great fun for the three of us in Tri-Starrs being part of the entertainment and music for the St Leonard's Hospice Moonlight Walk on Saturday!

Thank you to the wonderful Julie and Chris Marsden and all the brilliant YO1 Radio crew for looking after us and thank you to Sarah Atkinson and all the amazing St Leonard’s team!

Great to see my good friend Holly Taymar in her shiny outfit too!

It was wonderful to see so many people in bright sparkly outfits and lovely to see so many people that I have had the honour of celebrating the lives of loved ones with.
An incredible sight seeing them walking in memory of family and friends and raising money for the hospice’s amazing services. ❤️

Looking forward to playing at Live for St Leonard's in a couple of weeks!

ARRIVING IN STYLE❤️

As a lover and collector of classic cars, Steve’s entrance to his celebration of life ceremony in his classic Mercedes SL350 driven by his son was perfect.

Steve’s life had been an incredibly active one which we remembered with stories about his family plumbing business, his love of cars and his dedication to the sport of rowing.

He’d been an integral part of City Rowing Club and it was wonderful to see so many members attend wearing their distinctive club colours.

Life with his wife Judy had been very adventurous as they’d travelled many places in their caravan and enjoyed the community of the village they lived in.

Steve had battled through the difficulties of Guilliane Barre with sheer courage and tenacity which was admirable indeed.

His popularity was clear from the amount of people attending his service.

Thank you to Hayley at Darley Funeral Directors for arranging a wonderful farewell to Steve.

SEPTEMBER GREETINGS! 🍁

Well, it’s been a busy summer with ceremonies and school holidays hence posting has been a bit delayed!

As well as having family fun, I’ve been delivering many ceremonies including funerals, weddings and namings so expect a few posts over the next few weeks!

In July, I had the honour of being directly asked by Brian’s family to deliver a memorial service for close family and friends in a place that he was absolutely devoted to - his garden. 🪴

The sun was shining brightly on the day which was perfect for this ideal and personal location.
With no time restrictions, we celebrated Brian’s incredible life without any time restrictions which allowed us to listen to tributes from family and friends, hear special songs for Brian and enjoy refreshments in the setting of Brian’s pride and joy.

Memorial services can be held in any location at any time and it was just the most perfect arrangement for celebrating Brian’s life.

Thank you to Brian’s family for allowing me the honour and thank you to J G Fielder & Son Funeral Directors for looking after Brian and the family’s wishes.

As often happens, a few people and families that I have had the honour of working with conducting celebration of life ceremonies for loved ones turned up to see me doing my hobby job of gigging!

It was lovely to see them, a local funeral director Co-op Funeralcare and all the other people that came to our Tri-Starrs gig yesterday.

We didn’t get chance to take any footage of the crowd at THOR'S tipi in York but managed to capture the atmosphere at the end of the gigs!

Despite the light showers, the audience were incredible and it was great to be part of these wonderful events in the city that provides entertainment for people.

Thanks to Amanda Monaghan and the Thor’s staff for having us and to Fabler and Co too.
And thanks to Chris Bush from The Y Street Band and The York BID for arranging it all.
Looking forward to our next gig there in a couple of weeks and being back in Leeds at Thor’s too.

Three months ago, I finished filming with students from for their final project of a documentary based on celebrant ceremonies and alternative funerals.

The film is now complete and being assessed but will be available soon to watch!
It even features Tri-Starrs!

As an independent celebrant, I rarely get many opportunities like this so roll out the red carpet! 🤣

FRIDAY FEEDBACK 🌺

It’s always so reassuring to receive a card or email with feedback from a family.

Susi’s celebration of life ceremony was incredibly unique as the whole day and night was spent celebrating her life in different ways.

An alternative venue, live music, personalised decorations, singalongs, dancing…..all were included!

TUESDAY TESTIMONIAL 🌺

John certainly was a character!

He’d been devoted to the love of his life, his late wife Pauline, for 50 years and we paid tribute to this by opening with the song ‘Dedicated To The One I Love’. ❤️

John was also dedicated to his garden and his love of sweets was celebrated by his family giving everybody a huge bag of sweets at the ceremony!

These little extra personal details can make a huge difference indeed at funeral ceremonies.

I was very honoured to be invited to the Region C Certificate Presentation for the British Institute of Funeral Directors last Thursday at Maple Park Crematorium. Maple Park Crematorium at Maple Park

Thank you to Pippa for showing us round the facilities and explaining the ethos behind the venue that focuses on allowing people to arrange a broad range of personalised ceremonies and allows a good hour long ceremony time so that no rushing is necessary.

It was a great insight into electric cremations too and the mechanics of the environment friendly procedures.
Great to see the services provided by Obitus too.

The cafe provides a lovely scenic view of the surrounding landscape and is open to the public and for families for post ceremony refreshments. Maple Park Cafe

The venue even provides a room for families to be near their loved ones during the cremation as part of the grief and bereavement support.

The facilities are wonderfully light and spacious and the time allowance provides much more flexibility for a full celebration of life. It was lovely to see a council run crematorium providing and offering these services that make such a difference.

Thank you to Rosie and Lisa from Natural Endings for arranging and hosting the bringing together of like-minded people at their wonderful premises last weekend.

It was great to be part of the York conglomerate with and to finally meet in person Katy Vigurs and Lindsey Vigurs from Dead Good Legacies!

Wendy had made a bucket list of things to do before she said her farewells.

Flying a kite on a beach was one of those wishes and with the help of her family, she did it!

The last song at her ceremony was Let’s Go Fly A Kite and it was beautiful hearing her family and friends singing along to it as we closed the service. ❤️
