Last year, I was truly honoured to be asked by undergraduates at University of York to be the subject of their final year project.
The students were needing to create a film for their degree and chose to make a documentary about funerals.
It was a wonderful experience being interviewed at The Golden Ball pub who kindly let us use the venue. Filming in the wonderfully equipped studios on campus was also a highlight and when the students came to a Tri-Starrs gig to capture my out-of-work antics, we had a fabulous evening!
Meeting up with Siobhan Askew for the students to interview her about the ceremony I conducted for her wonderful Mum, Nicky was beautiful and we thank Hayley at Darley Funeral Directors for the arrangements which can be seen in the film.
A huge thank you is sent to Anna from Mindful Memorials, John Wilson from Bereavement Services at York St John University, Chris from St Leonard's Hospice and Kaz from All About Inclusion for being part of a hefty discussion about modern and alternative funerals that appears in the documentary.
Interviewed also was Hayley Owen Funeral Director who gave a great insight into funeral services and the role of a funeral director.
Thank you once again to all the students and especially to the director Katie Rose Abegglen for asking me to be part of the film they created.
