GOOGLE REVIEW ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After Linda had found the location of Mowthorpe Garden of Rest, her family followed her love of the gardens by having her celebration of life ceremony there.

They contacted me directly and we planned the day together so that a full ceremony was arranged and held outside.

Music was played, family unable to make it joined via live stream, ornaments and decorations were arranged, a full ceremony conducted and everybody helped plant snowdrops in Linda and her sister’s resting place.

Linda had visited Mowthorpe Garden of Rest and fell in love with it hence chose the location to be her place of rest.

Her family contacted me asking if I’d conduct a full celebration of life ceremony for Linda outside which I of course was honoured to do.

Although it was a bit chilly, Linda’s family and I arranged the decorations, the music, ceremony arrangements and even live streaming for people unable to attend all in the great outdoors.

Linda’s sister Doreen had sadly passed away just a few weeks before and so the two sisters were laid to rest by each other’s sides forevermore. ❤️

After we scattered their ashes together, as can be seen in the video, the family arranged the decorations around the Lilac tree to protect Linda and Doreen which we recognised by listening to a song and with a reading about sisterly bonds.

The family planted the snowdrops and placed butterflies into the soil as we played an acoustic version of I wanna dance with somebody by Boyce Avenue in tribute to Linda’s love of Whitney Houston.

Full ceremonies and services can be arranged and conducted for interments and scattering of ashes so that a full celebration of life can be held.

Thank you to Neil and Sonya Milsted Funeral Directors for looking after Linda and to Mowthorpe Garden of Rest for making the necessary arrangements.

The VideoUp video and photos have been shared with family permission.

The teamwork that went into arranging Sharon’s celebration of life showed how much can be done to truly pay tribute to a loved one.

Sharon’s legacy was remembered at the crematorium with:-

Horse and Carriage procession from Sharon’s home community to the crematorium
A double service at the crematorium
A ceremony that blended family tributes and original celebrant creativity
Singalongs to My Girl and Angels
A personalised video tribute created by celebrant
A raising (sharing and downing!) of vodka and coke!
Sharing of music Shazza loved

At the venue of The Carlton Tavern At York :-

A 64 pink balloon release for Shaz
Disco and Karaoke in her memory

In Sharon’s memory, donations were donated towards a defibrillator for the area she lived in and was hugely well known in of Chapelfields and was supported hugely by Andrew Waller.

All the funeral service arrangements including a church service at St Chads were organised by Rowley & Sons Family Funeral Services

I can’t thank Rachel Worrall enough for the reviews and the family for the beautiful gifts and card they kindly gave me.

Extra and personalised details can be arranged and families can make their own choices to ensure a funeral is as memorable as their loved one. ❤️

The elegance of Sharon’s arrival to her celebration of life ceremony was beautiful.

Friends and neighbours from the area she lived in and was well known in all stood on the streets applauding her horse and carriage as her journey through her hometown was made.

TUESDAY TESTIMONIAL ❤️❤️❤️

The words written here so kindly and heartfelt by Rachel Worrall absolutely touched my heart.

After spending many hours meeting, texting, emailing and planning Sharon’s funeral service, I indeed felt like part of the family but most importantly, we worked as a team to ensure Sharon received the best farewell possible.

As the independent funeral director that the family had chosen this time had kindly given them a choice of celebrant, the family at least had the chance to choose an officiant suitable for them which they had sadly previously been unaware of when working with a funeral director from one of the largest funeral services in the UK.

To reiterate this fact again - people can choose a celebrant!! 😲😲😲

I can’t thank Rachel and Sharon’s family enough for this testimonial which they have shared on various platforms to relay the message!

Thank you to Rowley & Sons Family Funeral Services for giving the family a choice. ❤️

During her years of fostering, Karen fostered and cared over 200 children.

To Karen, it wasn’t just a job - she was a full time mother to all the children providing constant care and going miles beyond for them all.

After the funeral director gave her family a choice of celebrants (which is rare!) I was so honoured to be asked to conduct her ceremony as I had connected with Karen’s family so well.

Although I myself had only been in foster care for 6 weeks and became adopted by my parents, I fully understood the power of nurture connected with fostering.

The crematorium was absolutely packed which meant the double service time was necessary!

Karen arrived elegantly with a horse and carriage provided by John Moorhouse and the donations collected were donated to St Leonard's Hospice in Karen’s memory.

Karen had requested songs herself which meant it was beautiful hearing Diana Ross, Dobie Gray and Dean Parrish which paid tribute to her love of soul and Northern Soul too.

The flowers that said ‘Sunshine’ summed up not only the nickname associated with her but the ray of sunshine she beamed over so many people during her life.

The front page article about Karen in The Press in York was a wonderful tribute to her life indeed.

Thank you to Rowley & Sons Family Funeral Services for arranging the service.

Once upon a time, there was a Princess called Elaurise who loved the Little Mermaid…….

Elaurise’s fairytale ceremony began with Ariel welcoming the beautiful horse and carriage with our Princess sleeping in a colourful bed with her favourite characters.❤️

As we told the fairytale of the brave little princess, we listened to her favourite Disney songs and blew bubbles to send magic wishes to her as she began her adventure in a new enchanting land.

It was wonderful to see so many family and friends dressed in her favourite colour of orange and to see so many carers including the amazing ones from Martin House Children's Hospice

Thank you to Full Circle Funerals for arranging such a beautiful service. ❤️

TUESDAY TESTIMONIAL 🌺

It was very refreshing to read Andy’s words in the Google review that he kindly wrote that described Dot’s ceremony as not being ‘text book’.

Every ceremony I write is written from scratch - no AI, no templates, no cut and paste!

This is the foundation of celebrant ceremonies which I strongly keep to!

Many thanks to Andy for the review and to Hayley at Darley Funeral Directors for arranging the service.

Last year, I was truly honoured to be asked by undergraduates at University of York to be the subject of their final year project.

The students were needing to create a film for their degree and chose to make a documentary about funerals.

It was a wonderful experience being interviewed at The Golden Ball pub who kindly let us use the venue. Filming in the wonderfully equipped studios on campus was also a highlight and when the students came to a Tri-Starrs gig to capture my out-of-work antics, we had a fabulous evening!

Meeting up with Siobhan Askew for the students to interview her about the ceremony I conducted for her wonderful Mum, Nicky was beautiful and we thank Hayley at Darley Funeral Directors for the arrangements which can be seen in the film.

A huge thank you is sent to Anna from Mindful Memorials, John Wilson from Bereavement Services at York St John University, Chris from St Leonard's Hospice and Kaz from All About Inclusion for being part of a hefty discussion about modern and alternative funerals that appears in the documentary.

Interviewed also was Hayley Owen Funeral Director who gave a great insight into funeral services and the role of a funeral director.

Thank you once again to all the students and especially to the director Katie Rose Abegglen for asking me to be part of the film they created.

Last week was spent decorating and rearranging the house.
I came across many old photos from my youth which brought back many memories.

It’s always beautiful when old photos are shared at funeral and memorial ceremonies.

This one brought back the memory of me being Betty with my friend Lucy as Nancy in our school production of Oliver!

Video tributes are a wonderful way to reminisce and capture memories of the old days as well as the recent ones.
I love creating slideshows for people and Obitus at crematoriums help ensure these memories can be shared.
