Who doesnβt love cheese?π€€π§
Itβs probably one of the most versatile foodstuffs and works with many food partners β bread, crackers, salads, pasta, jacket potatoes, etc and if you are from Yorkshire even with fruitcake!π°
Whilst it contains a high amount of fat, it can prove to have some surprising health benefits too.
Cheese is actually pretty close to its natural form β so is minimally processed (though some cheeses are very processed β steer clear of those).
Of course, the nutrition you get from cheese depends on what type you are consuming and how much.
Nutrients present in cheese include:
π§Protein
π§ Vitamin A
π§ Vitamin B12
π§ Vitamin K
π§ Vitamin D
π§ Calcium
π§ Zinc
Cheese made from the milk of animals eating 100% grass will also contain omega 3 fatty acids. All of these nutrients are great for your overall health and well-being including supporting good bone, muscle, and dental health, supporting your immune system, and keeping your blood healthy, lowering blood pressure, and promoting good heart health π¦·π«πͺπΌ
Fermented cheeses such as ricotta and feta also contain probiotic bacteria which have shown to promote a healthy gut and will likely keep cholesterol levels healthy too.
So, cure those Monday blues and enjoy a healthy portion of cheese and help mark National Cheese Lovers Day!π§π
