Things don’t always go to plan, and that’s okay.

A planned park trip was swapped for a last minute bowling outing thanks to some very windy weather, but the fun didn’t stop there. Laughter, a bit of friendly competition, and time spent together made it a great day all the same.

Sometimes it’s about how we adapt, finding the positives, and making the most of the moment.

This time last week, our residents were coming together to celebrate Easter in their own way.

From getting creative with crafts to sharing time, laughter, and conversation, it was a weekend full of connection and community.

These moments are a reminder that support isn’t just about care, it’s about creating spaces where people feel part of something.

Over the Easter weekend, our homes were filled with creativity, laughter, and time spent together.

From crafts and decorations to shared moments around the table, it was a chance for residents to connect, express themselves, and celebrate in ways that felt meaningful to them.

At Amitola, it’s these moments that have built the community we are today.

Making the most of the sunshine ☀️

Last week, some of our residents enjoyed time outdoors together. One group heading out for a picnic with our staff, while others relaxed in the garden at home.

Whether it’s sharing food, having a chat, or simply sitting in the sun, these small moments of connection can make a big difference to how we feel.

A calm afternoon spent getting creative 🧵

Lyn enjoyed some time sewing, focusing on each stitch and creating something of her own. Activities like this offer a chance to slow down, build confidence, and take pride in learning new skills.

A day by the coast 🌊

Layla enjoyed some time away with a trip to the seaside, taking her dog Barney along for a walk by the water. Fresh air, open space, and the simple joy of being outdoors can make such a difference.

These moments aren’t just about getting out, they’re about having the freedom to do what you enjoy.

Every other weekend we bring out the craft supplies for a relaxed afternoon of creativity.

Some residents work on their own projects, while others experiment with different materials and designs. It’s a chance to unwind, share ideas, and enjoy a bit of messy fun together.

Craft afternoons often turn into great conversations, with residents helping each other and swapping ideas along the way.

Another Monday baking club at The Dexters, this time making an old school birthday cake with plenty of sprinkles.

Residents worked together to weigh ingredients, mix the batter and decorate the finished cake.

Moments like these are about teamwork, confidence, and enjoying something sweet together afterwards.

Peter recently joined a session at The Hut York - Members Led Charity called “Nature in a Drop”, where he explored different scents and created his own aromatherapy oil.

Peter is visually impaired, but that never stops him getting involved in the activities he enjoys. Being able to smell and experience the different oils meant he could fully take part and create something personal to take home.

He also attends Wandering Minds, a guided meditation session he really enjoys. His handmade oil is now used during relaxation evenings back at The Dexters.

Monday afternoons at The Dexters mean baking club, and this week it was pizza night!

Residents got hands-on making their own dough, stretching and rolling out bases, and choosing their favourite toppings before assembling their pizzas for tea.

It’s more than just cooking. It’s about creativity, learning new skills, and enjoying time together around the table.
