Lauren completed a Bsc (hons) in sport and exercise science prior to graduating in 2010 with a Masters degree in Physiotherapy (pre Reg) from the University of Teesside. Since then she has worked in the private health setting specialising in Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedic and pre and post operative rehabilitation, with a keen interest in Pilates, Sporting injury, biomechanics and functional movement systems. In 2014 she qualified as a Veterinary Physiotherapist and went on to work for one of the GB equestrian team physiotherapists. My Qualifications:

Who’s up for evening Pilates?
Due to demand we have put on an extra Pilates class running on a Tuesday Evening at 5pm. The next course starts on Tuesday 18th October. Theses classes are Physiotherapy led, open to all and are tailored specifically for riders. £60 for a block if 6 or £12 an individual session. Please message to book

Rider Yoga sessions are back!
Our next set of Rider Yoga classes start on Tuesday 6th September at 1pm. These sessions are suitable for all, no experience or equipment needed. They focus on stability and flexibility in the saddle. They can be booked as individual sessions at £12 a class or £60 for the 6 week block. Message us for more details or to book your slot. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Its a great time of year to start working on your own health, wellbeing and self awareness.

Physiotherapy Led Clinical Yoga for Horse riders draws from Hatha and Yin styles. Having a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and rehabilitation allows a sequencing of poses to benefit riders of all disciplines with a focus on precision to yield the greatest therapeutic results to suit all individuals and readiness. Therapeutic benefits of yoga postures, mindfulness and breathing techniques allows increased flexibility of the muscle, joint and nervous system, increased strength, tone and balance, maintenance of bone density, improved circulation, metabolism and blood pressure, increased immunity, increased self awareness and focus and improved stress management.

Fingers crossed in January we will be running some group sessions. Here are a few details about the classes we are offering

Gym Ball classes
These are run as 3 week programmes focusing on rider stability, core stability and pelvic control, they can be tailored to any fitness level. They are designed to give riders more confidence on the ball alongside handouts each week for you to continue at home.
Cost £12 per session or £30 for the course, max 4 in a class
Start date: Monday 17th Jan, 4pm, Thursday 20th Jan, 10am

Rider Stability Classes
These are run as 3 week programmes focusing on exercises to help improve strength and stability important in the saddle. This will include core stability, shoulder stability and pelvic stability. They will run as a circuit style class incorporating the use of several pieces of equipment which you will rotate using through out the session. Don’t be put off by the word circuits, each station will have levels so is suitable for any level of fitness.
Cost £12 per session or £30 for the course, max 5 per session
Start date: Wednesday 19th Jan at 6pm, Thursday 20th at 11am

Rider Yoga
A 6 week programme of rider specific Yoga, a gentle class focusing on muscle lengths, balance and stability. Suitable to those new to Yoga or with a lower level of fitness
Cost £12 per session £60 for the programme, max 5 per session
Start date: Saturday 8th at 8 am

Rider Pilates
A 6 week programme of Exercises specifically aimed for rider fitness, balance, strength, posture and flexibility will allow for overall improvement in movement for both horse and rider and enhance the partnership and performance in all disciplines. Suitable to any level of fitness.
Cost £12 per session or £60 for the programme, max 5 per session
Start Date 8th January

Rider Fitness Sessions
More general fitness sessions focusing on your individual fitness goals, run by an equestrian personal trainer. These sessions can be run as 1: 1 sessions or max of groups of 3
Cost £25 for a 1:1 session or £12 for a group session, max 3 per group
Start date: TBC, we are looking at putting evening sessions on as soon as possible

All sessions to be held at the clinic at Dunnington, yo19 5PA

After a pause in classes due to our move, I am very excited that the physiotherapy led Pilates for horse riders are now back live! Message to book your slot for the new year!

One of the things we are most excited about our new space is that we can get our groups back up and running (subject to Covid!!!) The current plan will be to run small groups from January, this will include:
•Rider Pilates •Rider Yoga •Rider Gym ball class •Rider stability classes. We will be running classes during the week, Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. If you would like more information or would like us to send you out the timetable once it’s finalised please just drop us a message with your email address.
