Hi everyone, I've been meaning to put this together for a while, but it's been tough to make it official! Right now, I'm not taking any clients at all, as it's the children's turn to have my full love and attention. I'm learning to honour that I am a finite being, and the resources I have need to be spend with immediate family first. That said, you'll still find me in the York Home Birth Support group, (find us on FB, and we meet every month as well). In time, I definitely have some plans to slowly re-emerge back into work, but it needs to be able to really sit well with our family, (we Home Educate, so our rhythm looks a bit different to the 'norm'). If you're looking for a doula, or any signposting, please do still drop me an email, as I would love to be able to ensure you get the right care and support and can hopefully direct you onwards. That's me for now! xx

I did a thing! I was donated a birth pool, but sadly it was beyond repair. So, for the sake of research, (and for my own curiosity!) I filled it up and took a kitchen knife to it. WHY? Because in some corners of the birth world, there's still the idea that if anything happens, someone will have to "slash the pool" in order to help the birthing person out. As we know, that is a recipe for disaster, and obviously never happens, but this video shows you what it *might* look like! 🔪💧 (answer: a LOT of water). For a great blog post detailing this, check out Starfish Doula's blog post "Do Midwives really cut open birth pools at home births?" Also, I guess you could 'just' cut the outer edge, in order to deflate, but then why wouldn't you just open the valve?

And here he is! Arriving at home on 22nd, with me and my partner to welcome him. No drama, no medicalisation, just birth.

Our lovely doula arriving after to help us settle in.

I’m planning to write up the birth story and post it to my website so I’ll keep you updated. For now, all the snuggles.

It’s toodle-lo from me for a while as I waddle off to have a baby 😊

I won’t be using my work social media as I need to build up my oxytocin nest! If you want to contact me, please use my email as I will be checking that.

See you on the other side!

Today is the last day of Baby Loss Awareness Week, where candles are lit at 7pm across the country in memory of babies lost via miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatally. In the kind vein of , please, if you wish, use this space to share about the babies you are remembering.

I am remembering our son Peter, born with no heartbeat at 28 weeks, in 2019. 💕
