🌍 Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we honour those who dedicate their lives to helping others — often in the most challenging circumstances.
As an integrative therapist, I’m reminded that healing, empathy, and support are all acts of humanity too.
Whether it’s on the front lines or in quiet therapeutic spaces, compassion matters. Always. 💛

Let’s continue to build a world where care and connection lead the way.

On this International Cat Day, I’m pausing to honour the calm, comforting presence that animals bring to our lives.

Whether it’s the quiet company of a cat curled up nearby or the gentle rhythm of caring for a pet, animals can ground us in the present moment.
They don’t ask us to be anything other than who we are, and in doing so, they create a kind of safety that’s hard to put into words.

This little meditating cat lives in my garden as a daily reminder: slow down, be present, and soak up the quiet companionship around you.

In the therapy room, we often explore how relationships shape our sense of safety, identity, and self-worth. Friendship has the potential to be one of the most healing forces in our lives when rooted in trust, respect, and emotional presence.

A safe friendship offers more than company. It offers co-regulation, a space where our nervous system can settle and where we’re accepted without performance. These relationships remind us we’re not alone in our struggles, and that connection doesn’t require perfection, only authenticity.

Today, on World Friendship Day, I honour the quiet power of friendships that hold space, witness our growth, and allow us to be fully human.

🌈 Love is love. 🌈

On this Pride Day, we celebrate the beautiful diversity of love in all its forms. Everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and loved exactly as they are.

In counselling, creating a safe, affirming space where you can explore your true self is at the heart of healing and growth.

💙💜💚💛🧡❤️ If you’re seeking support or simply want to feel held and accepted, know that you are welcome here.

Let’s honour love, authenticity, and pride today—and every day.

🌍✨ Today is World Environment Day – a moment to pause and reflect on how our inner world and the outer world are deeply intertwined.

Just as our environment shapes us, our thoughts, emotions, and relationships shape the environment we create for ourselves and those around us. When we take small steps to care for the planet – planting a seed, reducing waste, pausing to appreciate nature’s beauty – we’re also practicing acts of mindfulness, compassion, and connection.

In therapy, we explore these connections: how nurturing our mental and emotional environments can ripple outward, influencing our choices, our communities, and the world we live in. Small, intentional steps can create lasting change – both within and around us.

If you’d like to explore how to nurture your inner world and how it relates to the world around you, please feel free to reach out. I’d be honoured to support you on your journey.

🌸 A second bloom, a second chance. 🌸

Two months ago, I shared a photo of this amaryllis proudly showing off a single flower. Today, it has blossomed again—this time with three stunning flower heads.

This second flowering reminds me of life’s capacity for growth and renewal. Even when we think we’ve reached our peak, new opportunities and possibilities can unfold—often in unexpected and beautiful ways.

It’s a gentle reminder that growth isn’t linear, and second chances are part of the journey. Like the amaryllis, we can surprise ourselves with resilience and grace.

Reflection prompt: How might you embrace your own “second bloom” today?

If you’d like to explore this in a safe, one-to-one space, please feel free to reach out.

Book Reflection: The Courage to Be Disliked
By Ichiro Kishimi & Fumitake Koga

One line that really struck a chord:
“We do not lack ability. We just lack courage. It all comes down to courage.”

This feels so true, in therapy, and in life. Often, the issue isn’t that we’re incapable of change, healing, or growth… it’s that fear gets in the way. Fear of judgment, of getting it wrong, of not being enough.

But what if courage isn’t about being fearless - what if it’s simply about taking small steps, even while afraid?

A gentle prompt to reflect on:
Where in your life could a little courage make a big difference?

If this resonates and you're ready to explore what’s holding you back, I offer counselling in York and online. Please get in touch when you feel ready.

Delicate cherry blossoms stretching toward a sky wide with possibility.

A soft reminder that even the most fleeting things - a bloom, a breath, a moment of calm - can hold meaning and beauty.

The branches don’t rush the bloom. The clouds don’t question their path. Nature simply allows.

What would it feel like to give yourself that same permission — to grow in your own time, to trust your unfolding, to just be without striving?

If you’re ready to explore what that could look like for you, I offer counselling here in York and online. You're welcome to reach out anytime.

Adult friendships, like seasons, can change. Sometimes, we grow alongside each other, and sometimes, our paths diverge.

It's okay to acknowledge the sadness that comes with this, and also to find peace in knowing that change is a natural part of life.

Holding onto the good memories while allowing space for new connections is a gentle act of self-compassion.

If you're navigating the complexities of a friendship ending, remember you're not alone.
I am here to support you through the process of acceptance and healing if you feel the loss of a friendship is holding you back in life

The sun sets over York, casting its final light across the city — and we trust, without question, that it will rise again.

There’s a quiet reassurance in nature’s rhythms. They remind us that not everything needs to be controlled or figured out right away. Sometimes, our work is simply to pause, breathe, and allow things to unfold in their own time.

In therapy, this idea often comes up — the urge to know, to fix, to feel better immediately. But healing rarely happens all at once. It’s a process of softening, exploring, letting go, and rebuilding.

If you’re in a season of change, overwhelm, or simply want to understand yourself more deeply, I offer counselling here in York and online. You're welcome to get in touch when the time feels right.
