It's been a Landrover type of day today.🇬🇧

1st job was carrying on with a failed RCM module on a Discovery sport which resulted in a non-start⛔️ condition and after going to a "specialist" came to visit HRS Diagnostics HQ.
Replacement module was sourced and fitted, correct config custom written ✏️ and programmed 💻along with our inhouse VIN recoding solution.
Vehicle now runs and drives fault free.✅️

2nd job was an Adblue solution removing the dreaded "mileage countdown" releaving the customer the burden of limited mileage untill suitable parts become available.

This was programmed "on the bench" as with all JLR newer vehicles, it gives piece of mind and security when communicating with the ECU.✅️

This Transit MK8 got recovered to me as a non runner ⛔️ after an incorrectly diagnosed BCM was swapped for a non matching unit.🔐❌️❌️❌️

After some diagnostic time ⏳️⌛️and reconfiguring the module to work correctly I could then run the PATS programming and configure the immobiliser side of things too.💻🔑✅️

All in all, a dead vehicle returned back to the customer for use in less than 24hrs from when it got dropped off.

This is currently 1 of a few dead vehicles I'm dealing with this week, so keep your eyes 👀 peeled so I can bore you with more aqward jobs. 🤪😂🧙🏽‍♂️

The previous eec-v PATS off ECU has arrived with the customer this week, not only has he fitted it but also sent me a small clip of this rare MG SV Ford Mustang 4.6 v8 back running making the customer very happy!

Feed back like this makes my job worthwhile while.

Hitting 2026 running 🏃‍♂️ 💪

Defender TD5 speedo cluster mileage correction ✅️
This was manually calculated by reverse engineering the hex structure and some simple maths 👨‍🎓💻and byte swapping.

Several MSB TD5 ecus for mapping ✅️
Making these mappable via the OBD port is one of many TD5 services we provide.

TD5 immo removal solution for an MSB and a NNN allowing them to "free run" 🆓️🏃‍♂️without a security code being sent from a BCU or 10AS module.✅️

A few Td5 discovery BCUs suffering from a "locked out" condition🔐 rectified on the bench✅️

A lot of today's jobs were dropped off at 8am📥 and collected the same day📤 for delivery back 📦to the customers with minimal downtime, helping to keep inconvenience low.

No 2 days are the same here at HRS Diagnostics, what will I be working on next? 🧐🤔

Tomorrow will hopefully end with my ears ringing from some 5.0 v8 TVR engined Tomcat noises! 🫡🙉🤞

My first official day back in the workshop today...🙌

MG SV Ford 4.6 v8 eec-v ecu PATS removed⛔️ for standalone use.✔️

Also if the snow lands that has been forecast I may look to dig my Landrover out to get a few issues sorted ready for a spot of snow hunting! 🤔

Last jobs of the year today!

M47 ECU sent in due to bricking. 🧱

This is a term in the tuning world where an ECU becomes unresponsive after the writing of an incorrect file or an issue causing the ECU to no longer work.

I'm this case.....

This was bricked by another tuner and left them in a aqward situation of a non start condition of a customer's vehicle.

Ecu read, checksum calculated, ecu recovered.
Job done! ✔️ grateful end to the year 🙏

And a TD5 with fuelling issues causing a non start. ✔️

I wish all of my past, present and future customers a Happy New Year.

I personally leave behind a very painful 2025 💔and look forward to a new chapter in 2026.

I was going stir crazy 🤪 in the house so I popped into work today.

I picked up on a non-start Astra H issue I've had in for a while that was quite frankly doing my head in.⛔️

This had no comms to the ecu causing a no crank and non-start condition due to the immobiliser not being happy.🔒

These sort of issues are hard enough without being caused by 2 faults.

The ABS pump had failed and the EPS module also had a fault which was dragging down the CANBUS voltage causing the lack of communication.📵

Once the issues were addressed comms to the ECU returned and the vehicle is now cranking and starting.

Leaving only the ABS at fault for the customer, which is a garage, to address.

Saving the garage important diagnostics time and also preventing the infamous game of parts darts being played. 🎯💸

Oh I also managed to stab my thumb with a fresh scalpel blade which went in full depth, nothing a bit of super glue and a plaster didn't sort out though lol 😅🩹

And to finish the day, some remote info for a guy on a twin turbo M57 project over in Canada 🇨🇦
