Thirsk Falcons U14 Clarets V Hartlepool St Francis – 7–1

The Clarets came flying out of the blocks! Gethin opened the scoring with a clinical finish before turning provider with a brilliant line- breaking pass in behind for Jack C, who doubled the lead inside 10 minutes.

Momentum kept building as Sam bagged a brace before half-time, giving us a commanding 4–0 lead at the break.

The second half saw more quality: Sam completed his hat-trick, Jack C added his second, and Ackley showed composure after a missed penalty, slotting the rebound with his left foot.

This was a complete performance despite creating so much more, a little extra composure could have seen an even bigger scoreline…

💛 Yorkshire Air Ambulance Marks 25 Years

Yorkshire Air Ambulance (YAA) has hosted its third annual ‘Ta Very Much’ day, a charity-wide initiative dedicated to personally thanking supporters from every corner of Yorkshire.

The event saw crew members, fundraising teams, office staff and trustees briefly stepping away from their daily duties to come together to make 300 personal phone calls and write more than 730 notelets to their supporters, which are all set to land on doormats across the region in the coming days…

🪡 Hambleton Grange Residents Cross-Stitch Their Way to Christmas Cheer

Residents at HC-One’s Hambleton Grange Care Home in Thirsk, have swapped their knitting needles for embroidery hoops this season, as their popular Knit & Natter Club takes on an exciting new project.

The group, which usually gathers weekly to enjoy knitting, conversation, and companionship, decided it was time to explore a different craft together. After a lively discussion, residents chose cross stitch as their new activity, selecting festive designs to work on with the hope of completing enough pieces to create a handmade Advent Calendar in time for December…

⚽️ Thirsk Falcons Match Report from Facebook

**Thirsk Falcons U13 Golds V Hawes U13**

Much improved performance from the lads today against a really strong side. I was genuinely impressed with their effort and attitude. Even though the scoreline didn’t go our way, the way they applied themselves was brilliant to see.

We’d spoken in training and again before the match about desire, effort off the ball, and making more tackles - and the boys absolutely delivered.

Not only did we compete well, but we also improved on the result from the reverse fixture, which shows great progress.

We had a couple of moments in both halves where we didn’t quite compete at our best, and that’s where the opposition gained the advantage, but overall I was very happy with the performance…

👑 Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers Celebrates Winning the King’s Award for Voluntary Service

On 14 November, Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers were awarded The King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2025 for promoting community participation in sport, improving fitness and health through coaching, competition and social inclusion.

This is the highest award a local voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE.

This is a credit to all the hard work of the committee, chaired by Trudy Morrice, coaches, including Head Coach Rob Burn, and all of the members - running sessions at the Sowerby Sports Village twice a week, organizing several local races, including kids fun runs, donating to community organizations, running a very successful Beginners course, and volunteering at events and other races.

In total over the last year, the Harriers have been able to contribute over £7000 to local schools, charities and organizations as a result of club races - for example, Thirsk 10, a road and wheelchair race which has been run for over 30 years, sold out this year with 1100 racers and over £5000 raised for three charities - Herriot Hospice, Wheelpower and Community Works…

🎁 Help for Thirsk Families Through The Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal

The Salvation Army is calling on the community in Thirsk and the surrounding area to share love and hope this Christmas by donating new toys to its Christmas Present Appeal to help give children a Christmas they deserve.

Every year Salvation Army churches ask people to donate new toys and gifts for children whose families are already making impossible choices between food, heating, and bills.

Last year, Thirsk Salvation Army distributed gifts to 186 children with the church and charity fearing more people will need support this year…

👏 Slimming World Thirsk Fund Raising

At Slimming World Thirsk, we all decided to do the 100 mile walk challenge in October to raise money for Breast cancer.

I am Ali the Slimming World Consultant and after finding out two members have been effected by breast cancer, l decided l wanted to show them l was thinking about them.

Leanne has just gone through treatment and June is having Chemo at the moment.

One night at group l told the members what l was going to do and other members also decided to join me in the challenge.

We do encourage members to take up a active lifestyle, so was delighted that other members wanted to join me…
