**Thirsk Falcons U13 Blues vs Prissick Rovers Jrs**

The Blues travelled away again today to Prissick with a view to follow up an build upon their great performance from last week.

The game did not start well for the Blues and we found ourselves behind within a couple of minutes after a cross was not dealt with and they stabbed it home.

Soon after we found ourselves 2-0 down giving ourselves lots to do.

The blues had their chances but Prissick’s keeper was in good form making some key saves when we had him through 1 on 1.

Eventually though, the ball fell to Kai who was able to pull one back for us making it 2-1.

Thirsk, however had still not found their best form and came into half time 3-1 down.

Having been in a similar boat last weekend, the boys knew they had it in them to pull the game back in their favour and in the second half, the performance levels increased exponentially…

🏃🏃🏼‍♀️ Strong Seconds for Harriers in Lakes, Moors and Dales

On Saturday 11 October, Trudy Morrice completed the Lakes in a Day event, a 50-mile route from Caldbeck in the North Lakes to Cartmel in the South over some of the most beautiful scenery in the Lake District including Blencathra and Helvellyn.

It was chilly to start and the climb to High Pike was misty and cold. Everyone was still quite close together in a long line into the very runnable descent to the River Caldew crossing for a shin deep water crossing.

There was then a long climb up to Blencathra but runners were rewarded with clear skies, sun and the most beautiful cloud inversion, before taking on the dreaded Halls Fell Ridge, which is a very step descent where concentration is key.

The rest of the route was filled with more stunning views, including the rare opportunity for clear views from Helvellyn, an incredible amount of climbing (4000m / 13,123ft) and trying to stay well hydrated in the unexpectedly warm weather…

🏃🏃🏼‍♀️ Harriers Take Second Team Prize at Ripon Ultra

On 4 October, the wind and rain from Storm Amy was not enough to deter five Harriers taking on the annual Round Ripon Ultra, a 35 mile route with plenty of elevation which starts and finishes in the village of Studley Roger.

The course was especially tough going in the wet conditions, with Duncan Fothergill reporting back that only two miles he found himself knee deep in a gateway filled with water - needless to say, he ploughed on with his wet feet for the remaining 33 miles and persevered through cramps just after 27.5 miles had ticked past.

The race requires runners to self-navigate a sometimes quite tricky course, but Harriers stayed on course, many having completed the race before or recced the route in advance - Duncan also guided a runner who had taken a wrong turn back onto course as they were quided by his “cramp shouting”

Competing Harriers were cheered on by friends and family into the finish, having taken in the final downhill section through Fountains Abbey…

⚽️ Thirsk Falcons Match Report from Facebook

**U12 Thirsk Falcons Whites North Riding County Cup – 2nd Round**
**Thirsk Falcons Whites 4 – 0 Nunthorpe Athletic JFC U12**

A bright but blustery Sunday morning greeted both sides at SSV, with powerful winds sweeping across pitch 2 and adding an extra challenge to the County Cup encounter.

Nunthorpe’s journey was delayed by traffic on the A19, leading to a later kick-off, but once underway, both teams showed great composure and intent despite the difficult conditions.

This was the Falcons’ first-ever flight into the North Riding County Cup, facing tough opposition from the well-respected Teesside league.

Falcons began strongly, applying early pressure and settling quickly into rhythm.

Their dominance was rewarded after 15 minutes when Maciej opened the scoring with a calm finish.

Following a few changes, Nathan doubled the lead before half-time with a thunderous strike from distance, a superb effort that found the top corner…

🥰 Hambleton Grange Hosts Heartwarming Harvest Festival in Thirsk

HC-One’s Hambleton Grange Care Home in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, welcomed residents, families, friends, and members of the local community to its annual Harvest Festival celebration.

The event was filled with warmth, community spirit, and generosity. A wonderful collection of non- perishable food items was kindly donated by colleagues, relatives, and local community members. These donations were beautifully displayed at St Mary’s Church for their Harvest Service before being passed on to Thirsk Food Bank and Community Works, ensuring they reach those most in need across the community.

During the Harvest Service, residents, families, and friends gathered together to celebrate the season. Many enjoyed the opportunity to take Holy Communion, and the atmosphere was made even more special by the presence of loved ones filling the room…

🎥 Paris 75 - Ritz Cinema Thirsk

Leeds United fans (particularly, but not exclusively) will be excited to hear that Thirsk’s entirely volunteer-run cinema will be showing the documentary film PARIS 75 on the evening of the second Sunday in October.

The film is about Leeds United’s European Cup Final appearance against Bayern Munich in 1975 but also, much more. The film focuses on the game itself, the fans who were there, and the lasting impact of the event on Leeds United’s identity.

Directed by Harvey Marcus and produced by Bruise Film, it explores the story of the match and the impact it had on Leeds United fans.

PARIS 75 - The European Cup Final Football Tried To Forget. Fifty years on, at each and every game, Leeds United fans still sing the same refrain, ‘We Are The Champions, Champions Of Europe’.

This feature takes a unique look at a season and, ultimately, a match steeped in controversy and myth which defined the identity of a club, its supporters and arguably, a city which endures to this day; bringing to a crashing end an era in football never witnessed before or since…
