Accountability in action 🧡

Last night at the
we welcomed from to lead our Week 3 session on Accountability — and what a powerful conversation it sparked.

There’s something incredibly impactful about men coming together in a space where showing up, being honest, and supporting one another is not only encouraged… but expected.

We explored accountability across three tiers-

Self-accountability – keeping the promises you make to yourself, even when motivation dips

Peer accountability – being supported, challenged and encouraged by others who “get it”

Community accountability – belonging to something bigger, where your presence matters and consistency is seen

Accountability isn’t about pressure or perfection.
It’s about:

✔️ Showing up when it’s hard
✔️ Being witnessed in your progress
✔️ Knowing someone will notice if you’re not there

Matty spoke about what accountability looks like within Menfulness — how community, shared experience, and consistency can create real, lasting change. You could feel the shift in the room as the group began to recognise the role they play in each other’s progress.

This is what EARN is all about.
Not just individual change — but collective growth.

A huge thank you to Matty for your honesty, energy and passion. And to the group — for continuing to show up for yourselves and each other 👏🧡

We’re proud to officially launch the EARN Programme in collaboration with Menfulness 🧡

EARN stands for Exercise, Accountability, Rest and Nutrition — four key pillars that underpin both physical and mental wellbeing.

This 6-week, fully funded programme has been designed to support men who may not otherwise access traditional mental health services. It’s about creating a space that feels accessible, practical, and grounded in real life.

Through our partnership with Menfulness, we’ve already seen the power of:

Community-led referrals
Strength-based, relational support
Meeting men where they are — not where we think they should be

EARN builds on this, offering a structured journey that integrates movement, routine, connection and reflection.

📍 Launching in York
📅 Wednesday 15th April
📍 The Raylor Centre, James Street YO10 3DW

This programme represents something bigger than a single intervention — it’s part of a wider commitment to rethinking how men access support.

Massive thank you to the team at Menfulness for their continued collaboration and shared vision. This is what meaningful partnership looks like.

If you know someone who could benefit, or if you’d like to collaborate or refer into future cohorts, we’d love to hear from you.

We are expanding. 🧡

Serendipity Counselling is now developing a new counselling service in Scarborough, and we are inviting applications from trainee counsellors seeking a placement opportunity.

This new service will support local men through funded counselling provision and forms part of an important developing offer in the area, created in partnership with community mental health initiatives already working locally.

We are looking for trainee counsellors who:

• are currently in placement-ready training
• can offer warmth, reliability and professional curiosity
• are able to work ethically within a supported clinical framework
• would value being part of an established, supportive team

What we offer:

• regular clinical support
• experience within an established counselling organisation
• referral opportunities
• a welcoming professional team
• the opportunity to contribute to meaningful funded work in the community

This is an exciting opportunity to join us as we grow our reach beyond York and build something valuable in Scarborough.

To express interest, please email admin@serendipityyork.co.uk with a little about your training, current placement requirements, and availability.

Please share with trainee counsellors, training providers, or anyone who may be interested. 🧡
