You don't need:

If you’d rather book a time instead, that’s absolutely fine too – just give us a call on 01904 721111. We have clinics 6 days a week across the whole of the region, so we're bound to fit you in at a good time for you.

We're really proud to work in partnership with this project 💗

If you're a woman, or a professional working with women, living in York and North Yorkshire, do have a look at this fantastic project. We'll see you there sometime!

𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗲 – 𝗮 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Massive thanks to Sophia and the Changing Lives team at Scarborough Women’s Centre for showing what a difference they’re already making for women in Scarborough just 8 months after they opened. This centre is already a vital part of the community, supporting women with a whole range services from employment and skills or health checks to craft groups and confidence building.

I heard so many powerful and inspiring stories from so many women now attending the centre on a regular basis and it was great see so many dedicated professionals and partners under one roof. It really shows the power of a whole system approach, helping women and girls be safe and feel safe.

We now have two Women’s Centres in our region in York and Scarborough, funded by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority. The centres are welcoming, women-only spaces where holistic, personal support can be received and are also an ideal base for partners to use to support local women.

David Skaith, the Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and I are proud of the progress we’ve made so far, though we know much more is needed. We remain committed to delivering the Government’s ambition to halve violence against women and girls and will invest nearly £7 million next year in victims’ services and partnership efforts.

Today is International Women’s Day 💜

This year’s theme, Give to Gain, is a call to action: when women and girls are supported with the right information, services, and opportunities, communities thrive.

In s*xual health, that means making sure women have access to clear information, respectful care, and are empowered with the confidence to make decisions about their own bodies and relationships.

If you live in York or North Yorkshire, visit yors*xualhealth.org.uk/people/womens-health for more information on our local services for women including:

04/03/2026

The HPV vaccine reduces your chances of getting human papillomavirus (HPV), a common virus that's spread through skin contact (usually when having s*x). It is now routinely given to all children aged 12/13 years as part of their vaccination schedule, but some adults are also eligible for the vaccination from s*xual health clinics.

Most types of HPV are harmless, but some types are linked to an increased risk of certain types of cancer, including:
🫧 cervical cancer
🫧 mouth cancer
🫧 a**l cancer
🫧 pe**le cancer
🫧 vulval cancer
🫧 vaginal cancer

We offer the HPV vaccination to men, bis*xual men, and other men who have s*x with men (GBMSM) up to and including the age of 45, and transgender women.

If you’d like to learn more about our vaccinations, visit yors*xualhealth.org.uk/wellbeing/vaccinations/

It's Time to Talk Day 🗣️

If you're struggling with an issue related to your s*xual health, such as a diagnosis; an unplanned pregnancy; self-confidence; or s*xual assault, you can self refer to our specialist counselling service via yors*xualhealth.org.uk/wellbeing/s*xual-health-counselling/

If you're hesitant, here are some words from previous service users:

⭐️ I had a really positive experience and found the counselling to be hugely beneficial in helping me move forward with life after experiencing something traumatic. I was referred and given an appointment very quickly, this was also amazing as it meant I had support very quickly. I’d recommend this service and I feel it’s vital for people who need to access counselling and therapy but who ordinarily might struggle to access such services.

⭐️ I instantly felt comfortable and at ease, after 6 weeks of weekly sessions I walked out of there a better version of myself, feeling lighter and more confident.

Just leaving this here if you need it 🩵 Today is , get involved and share this post to remind others that it's okay to reach out for help 💭
