NEW YOGA CLASS &
YOGA THERAPY COURSE FOR STRESS, ANXIETY & DEPRESSION
Yoga class
Starting on Tuesday 13th September between 1.30-2.30pm at Heworth (without) community centre a new yoga class is starting. Aimed for people who want to take time out before the school run or who simply want to unwind in the middle of the day.
This class was inspired from a yoga therapy student who wanted a class where she could have the option of using a chair throughout the practice or in meditation. The class will also cater for those wanting to move more dynamically who do not need the support of props.
This adaptive class will be based on a vinyasa flow integrating yoga asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques) and dhyana (meditation) while also introducing the 2 other limbs Yamas and Niyamas (ethical guidelines to help on life’s journey) at the beginning of the class.
To support those who are on low social income concessions will be available.
If you cannot make the daytime class, I offer 2 evening practices around the corner at The Burnholme Centre, Tang Hall Explore Library. Rest and Restore is between 6-7pm and Strength and Stability between 7.15-8.15pm on a Monday evening.
Yoga Therapy
This comprehensive 8-week course for stress, anxiety and depression (designed by The Minded Institute) will be running again from Wednesday 5th October until 23rd November between 6.30-8.30pm. This course takes an educative approach to give you the tools to support your mental and emotional wellbeing using a combination of mindfulness meditation and yoga techniques. Support throughout the course is given by Kathy who is not only a yoga therapist but also a qualified Occupational Therapist who has previously worked in mental health. Places are limited to only 8 in the group.

Testimonial from student on previous course:
“I completed the 8-week yoga therapy course with Kathy from One Mindful Yoga. I’ve suffered from depression and anxiety in the past and wanted to explore different ways of developing healthy coping mechanisms.
The course was brilliant and Kathy was an excellent teacher.
I enjoyed learning more from Kathy about the science behind why the breathing and yoga exercises were so beneficial.
Kathy’s guided practises were all really well led and her adjustments to my poses really helped me for the first time get more out of individual poses and helped me start to get the technique right.
The course has led me to find a new interest and I have loved how balanced and calm yoga and breathing exercises make me feel. I now try to incorporate yoga and breath work into my daily life. It always makes me feel so relaxed. I miss attending a weekly guided practice and hope to do more with Kathy in the future. The class was always so welcoming and like oasis of calm in otherwise busy life. I can’t recommend it enough! Emma”
