What better way to start our team alignment day last week with an outdoor yoga session, led by our wonderful Jemima.

Jemima channels her love of movement, flexibility and strength into all her treatments but has a passion for all things biomechanics.

Good hygiene = Beautiful toenails AND peace of mind

Headed for a summer pedi?
Always ask these questions:
- Do they sterilise their tools properly?
- Do they avoid cutting cuticles (cuticles form a barrier to stop infection getting in!)?
- Do they use disposable foot files or liners in footbaths?

As podiatrists we do sadly see the after-effects of poor salon hygiene.
Make sure you choose wisely and do not be afraid to ask questions!

Not all nail issues are cosmetic!

Yellowing, thickening, splitting or spots on the nails could mean:
- Fungal infection
- Psoriasis
- Trauma
- Underlying health issues

If you notice changes in colour, shape or texture of your toenails -Don't ignore them.

Polish break = Nail health boost!

Love polish on your toenails in summer? So do we!
But constant polish can dry out and discolour your nails.

Give your nails a breather between polishes to avoid fungal infections, dry, discoloured and brittle nails.

Top Tip - Use a good quality base coat BEFORE applying the polish to protect the nail plate.

Let's talk about foot creams!

Using a good quality foot cream is essential to keep those heel hydrated in the summer months.
We love anything with Urea in it and our go-to is the range by Dermatonics.
Not only do they supply a range that has differing levels of urea to address the needs of the skin, they smell divine too!

Cracked heels - when should I see a Podiatrist?

Sometimes home treatment of cracked heels is not enough.
See a podiatrist if:
- The cracks are3 deep or bleeding
- The cracks are painful to walk on
- There is localised swelling or redness (this could be a sign of infection)
