Bug Hotel🐞🐝

At The Chocolate Works, we absolutely love all things wildlife and think it’s really important to protect insects so we’ve built our very own Bug Hotel! A big thank you to our amazing Maintenance Lead Russell for helping us! 💜

Bug Hotels provide insects with a sheltered habitat for safe nesting, breeding, hibernation and boosts biodiversity in the area!

Next time you visit The Chocolate Works, why don’t you pop by and see which insects you can see nesting in our Bug Hotel! 🐛🐜

On Sunday, we had a very special visitor…..

The Easter Bunny hopped their way around The Chocolate Works and delivered us some delicious Easter eggs to enjoy😋

March Round-up 💜

As March comes to a close, we’re taking time to look back over the past month and remember all the good times we’ve had!

We’ve done everything! Parties, animal visits, music performances, trips out, Nursery children visit, arts and crafts, quizzes, games, baking, you name it we’ve done the lot!

We can’t wait to see what April has in store for us here at The Chocolate Works!

🎶Dancing Queens👑

We were recently joined by The University of York’s Ballroom and Latin Society, who performed some amazing dance routines for us here at The Chocolate Works! 💃

We loved watching their quick feet and fluid hips so much we wanted to have a go ourselves! We did some social dancing to a slow waltz, of course being guided by the professionals🤭

What a lovely afternoon! We can’t wait to have them back☺️

St Patrick’s Week!☘️🇮🇪

Wow, what a week we’ve had here at The Chocolate Works! We thought, instead of just celebrating for one day, let’s have a whole week of Irish themed activities and celebrations!

We’ve done quizzes, arts and crafts, games, baking and of course had a big party with the amazing Jess from Jolly Old Time Entertainment!

Big smiles and a lot of laughter, that’s what it’s all about🥰🤗

Beautiful Bouquets💐💜

As part of our Mothers Day celebrations, we did some flower arranging and created the most gorgeous array of bouquets!🌷

We asked some of our ladies what their favourite flowers were and what colour scheme we should go for before we went shopping to make sure we got the best ones!🪻🌸

A few of our lovely ladies used to be florists so they guided us through the process and educated us about each type of flower🤗🌼

A gents day out🍻💜

Last weekend, we popped down to our local pub ‘The Winning Post’ with some of our lovely gents for a pint (or three🤭)!

We also couldn’t resist getting some bar snacks, although our Lifestyle Co-ordinator Emma picked out a rather spicy packet of crisps🥵🤣

We had a really lovely afternoon and will definitely be back! 🤗

Chocolate Works Culinary Showcase🧑‍🍳🍽️

Last week our amazing Head Chef Alex, and Second Chef Keith hosted a Spring Menu Culinary Showcase, where they shared a number of new dishes for everyone to try and educated us about the nutritional value of each meal!

Everyone was very impressed with the new additions to the menu, in particular the freshness, bold flavours and variety that is being served!

The new Spring menu has now commenced and we look forward to seeing what new dishes become everyone’s favourites!

A big thank you and well done to Alex and Keith for their hard work and dedication towards ensuring our residents receive nutritional and delicious meals every day 😊💜

An incredible visit 🤗💜

On Monday, we were joined by the amazing Naomi Simon who treated us to some musical 1-1 time for our residents.

Naomi won the BBC’s young Chorester of the year competition in 2022, and has the most beautiful voice, we were truly astounded by her talent. She sung us a mixture of genres, ranging from hymns to jazz standards and even some Adele!

Some truly beautiful interactions were had, we really value this 1-1 time we can spend with residents and we can’t wait for Naomi to visit again!

Chinese Takeaway Night 🇨🇳🥢

What better way to round off our Chinese New Year celebrations than with a Chinese Takeaway!

We gathered in our Cinema room to enjoy a selection of dishes like Chow Mein, Beef in Black Bean Sauce, Duck in Plum Sauce and even some King Prawns! 🥡

Everyone tucked in while we listened to some traditional Chinese Music and found out the Chinese Zodiac sign for the year we were born! A really lovely evening 🤗
