Chocolate Works Care Village Our dedicated team provides high-quality residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. When we say this is a village, we mean it.

The Chocolate Works Care Village, York is a unique care community set in a lovingly restored, iconic building (the former headquarters of Terry's of York chocolate factory). offering a place you can call home while receiving the care that you need. Within the complex we’ve carefully chosen a vast array of amenities. The result is everything you could need to relax, socialise, stay active and even spoil yourself – all on your doorstep. An internal market square features a shop, a café, a restaurant and a bistro. And depending what mood you, your family and your visitors are in, there’s a hairdressing salon, a gym, a cinema room, a nail bar, a hydrotherapy suite and a sweet shop to enjoy. We even have our own on-site pub, The Duke of York.

This afternoon we had a visit from the
gorgeous Pepper who clip-clopped her way around The Chocolate Works saying hello to all of our residents!

We really treasure our animal therapy sessions, which play a vital role in improving the wellbeing of both our residents and staff! We can’t wait to see which animal visits us next ☺️💜

The Winners or our Residents Fund Raffle! 🏆🤩

As you may be aware, we held a raffle in aid of our residents fund and raised a huge £176!! Thank you to everyone who entered to win this amazing Fourtnum and Mason hamper, and since there was such big interest we also have a 2nd place winner🥳

With help from one of our amazing residents, we drew the winners at our New Years Eve party!

Our winners are as follows:

1st place and winner of the F&M hamper - Blue 364 (Paula) 🎉

2nd place and winner of the Wine - Pink 402 (Sair c/o Sharon from Housekeeping)🎉

The Big Day! 🎁🎄

After over a month of festive build up, it was finally the big day and we all enjoyed a very Merry Christmas here at the Chocolate Works!

We started the day off with a special visit from Mrs Claus who delivered us all presents, then of course we tucked into our delicious Christmas Dinner complete with all the trimmings😋🍽️

A really lovely day which ended in full hearts and full tummys🤗💜

The perfect way to spend Christmas Eve💜🎄

This afternoon we had the pleasure of welcoming a local family from our community to share their love for music and Christmas as they performed some Carols for us!

We even got a taste of an Argentinian Christmas as they shared some traditional festive songs from their home country🇦🇷🎶

We are so thankful they visited and can’t wait for them to return in the New Year☺️

Giving back to our Community💜🎁

Over the past month, we have been collecting gift donations for the Children at York District Hospital who wont be able to get home for Christmas.

We always love giving back to others, especially around Christmas time we try to spread love and joy to all🎄

A huge thank you to anyone who donated a gift or some money, it was hugely appreciated by both ourselves and the staff and children at York Hospital💜

Christmas Jumper Day 2025☺️🎄

Today residents and staff all wore their best Christmas Jumpers, dresses and T-shirts to really get us in the festive spirit!

Some of them lit up, others were vintage and some were very ‘punny’🤭😅

We had a prize for best dressed, which was a landslide decision to award to our lovely Senior Care Assistant Chelsea! 🎄

🎁 Resident Fund Raffle! 🎁

We are delighted to share that we’ve received a beautiful Fortnum & Mason hamper, generously donated to The Chocolate Works Care Home. To make the most of this lovely gift, we’ve organised a special raffle, with all proceeds going directly to our Residents’ Fund to support activities, trips, and events.

🎟 Tickets are just £1 per strip. If you’d like to take part, simply pop to our Reception to pick up your tickets and leave your payment in our honesty box.

✨ The winning ticket will be drawn on New Year’s Day — one lucky person will be taking home this gorgeous hamper!
