Our dedicated team provides high-quality residential, dementia, nursing and short-term respite care. When we say this is a village, we mean it.

The Chocolate Works Care Village, York is a unique care community set in a lovingly restored, iconic building (the former headquarters of Terry's of York chocolate factory). offering a place you can call home while receiving the care that you need. Within the complex we’ve carefully chosen a vast array of amenities. The result is everything you could need to relax, socialise, stay active and even spoil yourself – all on your doorstep. An internal market square features a shop, a café, a restaurant and a bistro. And depending what mood you, your family and your visitors are in, there’s a hairdressing salon, a gym, a cinema room, a nail bar, a hydrotherapy suite and a sweet shop to enjoy. We even have our own on-site pub, The Duke of York.

We've got Good Rhythm! 🥁

Last week, we were joined by the amazing Michał from Good Rhythm who gave us a master class in African Drumming!

We all got stuck in and played some West African and Latin beats on our Djembe drums! A truly unique and brilliant afternoon, we can't wait for Michał to come back!! 🤗🥁

Takeaway Night! 🥡🇨🇳

Last week we enjoyed a delicious Chinese Takeaway for tea! Complete with Chicken Chow Mein, Crispy Duck in Plum Sauce, King Prawn Toast, Spring Rolls and of course Prawn Crackers!

It was such a treat and we can't wait to do this again! Maybe next time we'll get an Indian Takeaway 🤭

We absolutely love spending time with our Sensory Teddy Bear 'HUG'. It even has a gentle heartbeat that brings a feeling of comfort and warmth 💖

When singing group accidentally turns into a dance party 🙈🤗

Here at The Chocolate Works, we are always grooving! Music and dancing is so beneficial for both mental and physical wellbeing, especially as we creep closer into these Winter months its so important to keep moving! ❄️💃

We've had the most amazing afternoon with singer Richard and his Furry companion Honey!

We enjoyed singing along to some classic tunes from the 50s, 60s and 70s, and even got our groove on too! 💃

At the end, Honey treated us to a performance of her best tricks in exchange of a biscuit or ten 🤭

We love visiting the Peace Gardens just outside our home! It's a gorgeous place to relax, watch the Squirels play and chat with friends ☺️🩷

Last Friday we held an amazing event in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness!

We had a Teddy Bears Picnic complete with a bake sale, tombola, music and lots of smiling faces😊.

It was a fantastic afternoon, and thanks to your generous donations, we raised £175! 🩷

🌸 A Day of Style and Smiles at The Chocolate Works! 🌸

On 11th August, our wonderful ladies enjoyed a truly special shopping and fashion show experience right here at Chocolate Works Care Village. 👗✨

With the help of my lovely mum, nan, and our dedicated Wellbeing Team, we transformed the day into a celebration of fashion, fun, and friendship. Each lady received vouchers to treat themselves to something new, and the joy on their faces as they picked out their favourites was priceless. 💝

The room was filled with laughter, confidence, and plenty of “oohs” and “aahs” as outfits were showcased on the runway. It was more than just shopping – it was about making memories, sharing smiles, and celebrating the women who brighten our home every day. 💃💖

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped bring this day to life – it was truly one to remember!

Dancing Kings and Queens 🕺💃

Sybille from SK Studio York recently came to the Chocolate Works for a Latin Dance Class!

We all learnt about the different styles of Latin, and had an amazing time getting our groove on!

It just goes to show how important dancing and music is for the soul, no matter your age 💗
