FAMILY FIT
I must admit, encouraging the family to exercise definitely keeps you on the straight and narrow.
Yesterday was my birthday and when asked what I REALLY wanted to do I said, 'Tidy out the gym!' It was met with shouts of 'that's not fun' etc. but I needed to move some bits around and give it a spring clean (it's at the end of the garden and does get bits of twigs and leaves dragged in sometimes).
My eldest (20) helped me and we got it looking ship-shape in an hour or two. He then suggested, whilst we're here, we might as well do a workout. So, we did a bit of bench press and some dips. It was just enough and made my birthday dinner of fillet steak and eggs all the more sweet.
Today, me and the missus are going to do a 20 min Crossfit workout - outside! First one this year. Youngest will tag along and do a bit no doubt.
Sunday, youngest son played football for his Air Cadets squadron - a charity match in the blazing sun. He's also working his way back into the gym too.
Tomorrow, it will be another workout with eldest (we do about 5min warmup and 25-30 min of weights. Focussed but not too much that it's hard to recover from).
So, all in all, I don't get the opportunity to 'slack off' as they always keep me honest. I love it, and hope they always want to do something to keep their bodies working.
And the best thing is, I'm working on myself now so that I can be a better/fitter/more spry Grandad when the time comes. A far reaching family investment I believe.
(Here's a vid from the 2020 Lockdown where we were all chewing the walls after being cooped up all day, every day!)
