🌟 Success Story: From Leaks to Zumba! 🌟

💧 48 year old Emma started noticing bladder leaks when she sneezed, laughed, or exercised. As someone who loved her weekly Zumba classes, this was devastating. She began avoiding high-impact movement, cut down on fluids and started wearing pads just in case. She was feeling frustrated, self-conscious, and sore from the the discomfort of wearing pads.

After Emma reached out for pelvic health physiotherapy we built a personalised plan, including:

✅ Targeted pelvic floor exercises to regain strength and control
✅ Gradual integration of pelvic floor with whole body exercise, including building up to impact work.
✅ Breathwork & movement strategies to support her bladder
✅ Coaching and support to implement stress reduction strategies (a big factor in pelvic health!)
✅ Vulval health advice to address hormonal changes affecting comfort

With consistent guidance and support, Emma made it back to her Zumba class—leak-free and full of confidence! 🎉

Coughing playing havoc with your pelvic floor? As well as getting on top of those symptoms with plenty of fluids, rest and symptomatic relief, you could try a more effective way to clear your chest (rather than hacking away to no avail!)

🌟 Top Exercise Tips for Menopause 🌟

Menopause is a great time to establish some healthy habits. Choose exercise that improves flexibility, fitness and strength as well as helping with perimenopause’s symptoms such as joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, and mental health challenges.

Here are some key exercise tips to help you feel your best:

💪 Incorporate Strength Training: Combat muscle loss (sarcopenia) by adding weights or resistance bands to your workouts.

🚶‍♀️ Stay Active Daily: Walking, yoga, or Pilates can keep your joints mobile and improve overall well-being.

🧘 Focus on Balance: Include exercises that challenge your stability, like single-leg stands or tai chi.

💃 Don’t Forget Cardio: Activities like dancing, swimming, or cycling help keep your heart healthy and energy levels high.

🛌 Prioritise Recovery: Get plenty of rest and listen to your body to avoid overtraining.
