Reformer Pilates isn’t just popular because it looks good…

It’s loved by physiotherapists because it’s one of the most effective ways to build strength, improve movement and support rehabilitation.

At Hands That Heal we use Reformer Pilates as part of our physio-led approach, helping people move better in a way that feels safe, supported and effective.

Here’s why it works so well:

✨ The springs provide controlled resistance, reducing strain on joints
✨ Exercises can be adapted and progressed at your pace
✨ It improves alignment, posture and body awareness
✨ It’s ideal for rehabilitation and injury prevention

This is why Reformer isn’t just about getting a workout in…

It’s about helping your body feel stronger, more stable and more confident in movement.

🌿 Movement should support your body — not fight against it.

If you’ve ever taken a Reformer Pilates class, you might have noticed the colourful springs attached to the machine.

But they’re not just there for decoration 👀

Each spring represents a different level of resistance, allowing exercises to be adapted depending on the movement and the person doing it.

On our Align-Pilates reformers the colours represent:

💛 Yellow – Extra light
💙 Blue – Light
❤️ Red – Medium
💚 Green – Strong

Changing the springs helps us adjust the resistance so exercises can either:

• Provide more support
• Increase the challenge
• Improve stability and control

That’s why Reformer Pilates is so versatile — it can be adapted for beginners, rehabilitation, strength building and everything in between.

At Hands That Heal our classes are physio-led, so every exercise and spring setting is chosen to help your body move safely and effectively.

✨ Strength
✨ Control
✨ Support

Exactly what Reformer Pilates is all about.

🩶 We’re Hiring – Physiotherapist 🩶

Know a Physiotherapist who loves what they do?

At Hands That Heal we’ve been proudly serving our community for 15 years, and as our clinics continue to grow, we’re looking for a brilliant Physiotherapist to join our team across our South Cave and Pocklington clinics.

This isn’t your typical physio role.

We go beyond the clinic walls — supporting people in the community, delivering 26 weekly classes including Reformer Pilates and falls prevention, and using technology like shockwave therapy and 3D scanning that many clinics simply don’t have access to.

The Role:

Part-time – 20 hours per week
(with a clear pathway to full-time hours)

Salary: £28,000–£40,000 pro rata & performance bonus.

Alternate Saturdays required.

A Day at Hands That Heal Might Look Like…

🩶 Morning – Leading a Reformer Pilates class with a group of regulars who have become familiar faces.

🩶 Afternoon – Carrying out 1-to-1 physiotherapy assessments using technology that genuinely improves patient outcomes.

🩶 End of the day – Working out in the local community, bringing physiotherapy to the people who need it most.

No two days are the same — exactly how it should be.

You’ll Need:

✔ HCPC registration
✔ A Physiotherapy degree (or equivalent recognised by the HCPC)
✔ Full UK driving licence
✔ Your own vehicle insured for business use
✔ Availability for alternate Saturdays
✔ A genuine passion for patient-centred, community-focused care

What We Offer:

✨ Structured CPD and mentorship
✨ A supportive team that genuinely has your back
✨ Clear progression to full-time hours

Our Recruitment Process:

We keep things relaxed.

First, an informal chat, followed by a shadowing day so we can both see if we’re the right fit.

A DBS check will be required.

Please note:
We cannot offer visa sponsorship, so applicants must already have the right to work in the UK.

If we had to describe Reformer Pilates in just three words…

✨ Strength
✨ Control
✨ Support

The beauty of the Reformer is that the springs create resistance while also supporting your body, allowing you to build strength without unnecessary strain on your joints.

It’s why so many people love it — and why it works so well for:

✔ Building full-body strength
✔ Improving stability and posture
✔ Supporting injury recovery
✔ Helping you move with confidence again

At Hands That Heal our classes are physio-led, meaning every movement is guided to make sure your body is working safely and effectively.

Because exercise shouldn’t just make you tired…
it should help your body feel better and stronger too.

If you had to add a fourth word for Reformer Pilates… what would it be?

For a lot of people the answer is usually somewhere between a little stiff, a little tight, or just not quite right.

And when that happens, the natural instinct is often to rest and avoid movement altogether.

But more often than not, the body actually needs the right kind of movement — not complete rest.

✨ Movement improves circulation
✨ It supports joint health
✨ It strengthens the muscles that protect your body
✨ And it helps restore confidence in how you move

This is exactly why we’re so passionate about physio-led movement at Hands That Heal.

Whether you’re joining us for Reformer Pilates, matwork classes or physiotherapy, everything we do is designed to help you move in a way that is safe, supported and tailored to your body.

Because when movement is done well and with the right guidance, it can genuinely change the way your body feels.

Sometimes the smallest changes in how you move can make the biggest difference.

🌿 Spring is the perfect time to start moving again.

If your body has been feeling stiff, tight or out of balance, we’d love to help you get moving again — in the right way.

In a world full of quick fixes and complicated fitness advice, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your body is simply move it well.

The right kind of movement can help:

✨ Reduce pain
✨ Improve strength
✨ Support your joints
✨ Restore confidence in your body

That’s why at Hands That Heal we focus on physio-led movement, helping you build strength and stability in a way that truly supports your body.

Whether it’s through Reformer Pilates, Matwork or physiotherapy, our goal is always the same — to help you move better and feel better.

Sometimes small, consistent movement is the most powerful medicine of all.

It’s a minefield out there when it comes to knowing what type of exercise is best for your body.

We get it.

With so many different classes, workouts and advice online, it can sometimes feel hard to know where to start.

So here’s a simple way of looking at two types of Pilates we offer at Hands That Heal.

🧘‍♀️ Matwork Pilates
Uses your own bodyweight on the mat to build core strength, posture and control.

⚙️ Reformer Pilates
Uses the reformer machine and springs to provide resistance and support, helping you build strength and stability through controlled movement.

Both are fantastic for improving:

✨ Strength
✨ Mobility
✨ Stability
✨ Confidence in movement

And because our classes are physio-led, every exercise is designed to support your body safely.

So now we’re curious…

👇 Which would you choose?

Matwork 🧘‍♀️
or
Reformer ⚙️

As we move further into spring, it’s the perfect time to bring your body back into action 🌿

Many people think exercise needs to be intense to be effective — but some of the biggest improvements happen through slow, controlled and supported movement.

That’s exactly what Reformer Pilates is designed to do.

The springs on the Reformer provide both support and resistance, helping you:

✨ Build strength safely
✨ Improve stability
✨ Support joints and muscles
✨ Move with more confidence

At Hands That Heal our Reformer sessions are guided by physiotherapy knowledge, meaning every movement has a purpose and progression.

So if your body has been feeling a little stiff, tired or “out of sync” lately… this could be the perfect time to spring back into movement.

✨ Sometimes the best thing you can do for your body is simply start moving again.

Spring always brings a natural shift in energy.

The days are longer, the weather begins to brighten, and many people start to feel ready to move their bodies a little more again.

But after a long winter it’s very common to notice things like:

• Stiff joints
• Tight hips or backs
• Feeling weaker than usual
• Less confidence in movement

This is exactly where Reformer Pilates can be so helpful.

At Hands That Heal our Reformer sessions focus on slow, controlled movement that helps strengthen the body while protecting the joints.

The adjustable springs provide both support and resistance, making it suitable whether you’re:

✨ Returning to exercise
✨ Recovering from injury
✨ Or simply wanting to move better

Spring is the perfect time to reconnect with movement and prioritise your wellbeing 🌿

As we move further into spring, it’s the perfect reminder that movement doesn’t need to be intense to be effective.

Often the most powerful changes happen through slow, controlled and consistent movement.

That’s one of the reasons we love using the Reformer at Hands That Heal.

The adjustable springs allow exercises to be both supportive and challenging, helping to build strength while protecting the joints.

Reformer Pilates can help improve:

💪🏻 Strength
⚖️ Stability
🦴 Joint support
✨ Confidence in movement

Whether you’re recovering from injury, returning to exercise, or simply looking to move your body in a safe and effective way, Reformer can be a fantastic place to start.

Spring is the perfect time to prioritise your movement and wellbeing 🌿
