Putting a cloche on 2025.

This year has been a lesson.
Not one I need to analyse to death — but one I’ve listened to.

I’ve learnt what I want to carry forward into 2026 and shape this business around…
and what won’t be coming with me.

This year I created 24 new scents, welcomed back our much-loved seasonal favourites, and held space for our core collection — the heart of what we do.
I’ve met the most wonderful people from all over the world, which will always be my favourite part of having a shop in York. One moment chatting with someone from Bahrain, the next from Miami, then Italy. It never gets old.

There are customers who return year after year, familiar faces who feel part of the rhythm of this place. And that means more than I can properly say.

It’s also been the hardest year in business yet. As I step into my 11th year, it feels wise — and necessary — to pause, notice, and move forward with intention.

But today, more than reflection, is about gratitude.

Thank you to everyone who has bought from me this year.
To my candle and wax melt box subscribers who show up every single month.
To those who come into the shop trusting us as their go-to place for gifts, rituals, and small comforts.

That trust is everything.

Here’s to closing the year gently, protecting what matters, and shaping what comes next ✨

I’ve chosen three scents from our winter collection for our Christmas edition wax melts boxes . There is mulled cider , Christmas Tree and Pumpkin Pie . They add hours of festive fragrance with each melt. Each box has 11 festive shapes in raoeseed wax . They make a perfect stocking filler for the scent lover in your life , or a treat for the most important person , you 🥰

If you’re wondering where I’ve been… trust me, so am I.

It’s the busiest time of the year and here I am not showing up on Instagram to promote my candles.
A truly terrible business person, clearly — especially when everyone else seems to be flogging their goods daily, tinsel in one hand and a perfectly lit flatlay in the other.

Meanwhile, I’m over here juggling:
• making every single product
• doing rotas, changing rotas, questioning why rotas even exist
• working the shop
• VAT returns (because of course they’re due now)
• posting orders
• replying to “where is my order?” emails
• trying to find an hour for myself (lol)
• doing Christmas shopping
• making my house look vaguely like a home
• visiting parents
• Christmas fairs
• ordering stock
• refilling the shop after busy weekends
• attempting to sleep occasionally
• and still giving off an air of zen to anyone who walks through the door

So no, I’m not “missing.” I’m just running a small business in December — which is basically like doing a marathon, blindfolded, with a vat return strapped to your back.

Thanks for sticking with me, for shopping with me, for being patient with your parcels, and for supporting a very tired candle maker doing her absolute best.

The Little Yorkshire Candle Company

OUR STORY

The creator of The Little Yorkshire Candle Company, Alex Hall grew up in the Yorkshire town of Leeds. After a short period of living in the south she returned to Yorkshire where her love of the countryside, nature and natural things thrived. Trained at Harrods in distributive trades and working with fine goods gave Alex the high level of detail she now looks for in all of her products.

Many candles now include essential oils but are heavily partnered with synthetic fragrances to give them the punch of smell so commonly found. Disappointed by the increase of synthetic fragrances becoming available she set out to develop a purer scent with the vision to keeping everything natural.

After struggling to find candles that weren’t too pungent where you could remain in the same room as a lit scented candle without being overwhelmed by the ingredients set Alex on the path to creating a new range of 100% natural Yorkshire candles.
