Over the last four years the items I could have sold over and over again surprisingly are my props , decor and furniture 🤨
I always smiled and kindly refused any pleas for my candle holder but now I need it all gone gone and with one door closing and another opening I’m here measuring everything and planning how it’s all going to fit in the new place.
I have quite a bit to do before I can open the new place but this is a start and tomorrow I’m taking some rubber gloves and bleach for the loo and a roll of masking tape to mark up the floor with these dimensions in the hope it will work out.

There’s something about a rainy weekend that makes me want to lean into the slower pace. The sound of the drizzle against the windows, the kettle on more often than usual, a stack of mugs waiting by the sink. It feels softer somehow, as though the world has given you permission to stay in. Unfortunately having a shop doesn’t allow this and I’m here sheltering in town from the rain.

Hot Milk was created for days like this. Soft vanilla and warm creamy notes that gently fill the room without overwhelming it. It settles into the corners of your home and makes everything feel a little cosier, a little calmer, a little more comforting.

For me, it carries that quiet nostalgia of warm milk before bed and evenings when the curtains were drawn early. I noted my tater still does this before it gets dark. There’s a steadiness to it. A reassurance. It’s the kind of scent that makes you want to curl up with a book, put something slow on the radio, or simply sit with a cup of tea and watch the rain do its thing.

It’s a beautiful one to light on a grey Saturday afternoon when you’re pottering, baking, reading or doing very little at all. The glow, the warmth, the softness of it all.

Hot Milk — warming, comforting and made for rainy weekends at home. šŸ¤

There is a very specific moment…

When the last load is folded.
The surfaces are wiped down.
The hoover lines are still visible in the carpet.

And the house finally exhales.

That is when you light Laundry Days.

Not before. Not halfway through.
After.

When the windows are slightly open and the air feels lighter. When the beds are freshly made and you know you’ll climb into crisp sheets later. When everything feels reset.

Laundry Days isn’t just a ā€œcleanā€ scent. It’s the reward at the end of the reset.

Soft cotton. Sun-warmed linen. A gentle whisper of white florals and musk. It doesn’t shout. It settles. It completes the ritual.

You’ve done the work.
Now light the candle.

Small pleasures. Big difference. 🌿

Today I’m not going to talk about the business or plans or what’s happening behind the scenes as it’s a lot and feels out of my control so I’m trying to focus on the small things instead .

The things I can actually control.
The quiet rituals that steady me.
The simple, ordinary moments that remind me everything doesn’t have to be solved all at once.

A good cup of coffee.
Fresh flowers on the table.
Lighting a candle in the middle of the afternoon just because I can.
Five minutes to breathe before the door opens again.

I’m learning (slowly) that not everything needs wrestling with. Some things just need trusting. Focusing on what’s within my reach. Letting go of what isn’t. Believing that, in the end, everything does work out the way it’s meant to.

So if this week feels heavy for you too, maybe shrink your world slightly. Notice what’s in front of you. Pour the coffee. Buy the flowers. Light the candle.

Sometimes the small things are the big things ā˜•ļø

There’s something about a classic novel and a candle that just makes sense.

Our Smells Like… Classic Novel Collection is a little love letter to stories with atmosphere — the kind that linger long after you’ve turned the last page.

Inspired by Secret Garden, Dracula, and of course Wuthering Heights, these scents are less about gimmick and more about mood. They’re about stepping into a place.

And this past week?
Wuthering Heights has absolutely flown.

It might not bring Heathcliff to your door (probably for the best), but it will bring the Yorkshire moors into your living room.

It’s evocative. Slightly wild. Deeply serene.
The kind of scent that makes you want to curl up with a book while the wind does its dramatic thing outside.

If you’ve been curious about the collection, now might be the moment — Wuthering Heights in particular hasn’t stayed still for long this week.

Stories in scent form.
For those of us who like our homes to feel like chapters.

The Little Yorkshire Candle Company

OUR STORY

The creator of The Little Yorkshire Candle Company, Alex Hall grew up in the Yorkshire town of Leeds. After a short period of living in the south she returned to Yorkshire where her love of the countryside, nature and natural things thrived. Trained at Harrods in distributive trades and working with fine goods gave Alex the high level of detail she now looks for in all of her products.

Many candles now include essential oils but are heavily partnered with synthetic fragrances to give them the punch of smell so commonly found. Disappointed by the increase of synthetic fragrances becoming available she set out to develop a purer scent with the vision to keeping everything natural.

After struggling to find candles that weren’t too pungent where you could remain in the same room as a lit scented candle without being overwhelmed by the ingredients set Alex on the path to creating a new range of 100% natural Yorkshire candles.
