😴World Sleep Day 2025
'Sleep is the single most effective thing we can do to reset our brain and body health each day.' (Matthew Walker)
Insomnia is characterized by an ongoing difficulty to fall or remain asleep despite wanting to sleep and having enough time to sleep. Up to two-thirds of adults periodically experience some form of insomnia and it more likely to occur with older age, lower socioeconomic status, and anxiety or depression.
Many of my clients come to me with sleep issues for many different reasons including hormonal imbalances (peri/menopause), anxiety/stress, ADHD, medication, and general social exhaustion....
Some tips for a good night's sleep
📵Did you know the blue light from LED screens reduces the production of melatonin which helps us get to sleep? Switch off phones/any screens at least 1 hour before bed.
🍽️Eat foods rich in tryptophan to aid the production of serotonin (sleep and mood enhancer) such as eggs, cheese, nuts & seeds, salmon and turkey.
👣Try some reflexology to promote a peaceful sleep. Here is a little self help 👐 hand reflexology routine you can try at bedtime.
👍Rub over the top of the thumb (the brain reflex) with the knuckle of your index finger to help calm. Work both hands, one at a time, for 5 minutes each day.
