Come and join me, Sylvia and others for a zoom Death Cafe tomorrow afternoon 2 - 3 pm - everyone's welcome.

"At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death"

"A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session."

The main objective is to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.

It's a friendly informal event. We'd normally provide the tea, coffee and cake but with it being on zoom its up to you to put the kettle on and bring your own snacks.

YORK’S DEAD GOOD FESTIVAL 2021 During the COVID-19 pandemic, the subject of death, dying and bereavement is just as sensitive as ever. However we believe it is still important to talk and be open about these things. We want to encourage anyone who feels able to join in to do so. Basically if you w...

What are your funeral wishes? Have you told your nearest and dearest? Do you what kind of funeral your loved ones want?

80% of people say the most important thing about a funeral is to honour the wishes of the person who died.

But what if their wishes aren't known?

This Dying Matters Awareness Week, let's start a conversation about funeral wishes.

This week is Dying Matters Awareness Week. Talking about death doesn't make it come any sooner. Many people say that talking about death, dying and funerals helps them to live their life more fully, knowing that their 'affairs are in order' and their nearest and dearest will have less to deal with and will know exactly what to do , following their wishes, when the time comes.

Dying Matters Awareness Week is 10 to 16 May, and we want to raise awareness about the importance of discussing funeral wishes with loved ones - while you still can. That's why we're inviting you to share your with us.

Good news today:
"Families and friends will be able to mourn their loved ones in unlimited numbers at funerals in England from 17 May, under new plans.

As part of the next step in easing restrictions, the government is preparing to remove the 30-person legal limit a month earlier than planned.

This means any number of mourners will be able to gather so long as they can safely socially distance in the venue."
