We’re delighted to introduce Mr Adam Budgen, a highly experienced Consultant Foot & Ankle Surgeon specialising in trauma, orthopaedic and sports disorders of the lower limb.

Having performed more than 15,000 operations and many thousands of targeted injections, Mr Budgen brings exceptional depth of experience, with few foot or ankle conditions he has not encountered.

Mr Budgen has extensive experience treating elite athletes, including British Triathlon, ballet and contemporary dancers, premiership and local rugby union and league, premiership football, and county cricket professionals, while continuing to care for patients of all ages and activity levels.

🌟 Meet Mr Tony Gibbon – Consultant Knee Surgeon 🌟

We’re delighted to introduce Mr Tony Gibbon, a highly experienced Consultant Knee Surgeon specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of knee conditions, from sports injuries to complex joint degeneration.

Mr Gibbon regularly supports patients with:

✅ Knee arthritis and wear‑and‑tear conditions
✅ Sports‑related knee injuries
✅ ACL, PCL and other complex ligament injuries
✅ Patellar instability and knee dislocation
✅ Meniscal and cartilage injuries
✅ Primary and revision knee replacement surgery

Mr Gibbon has extensive expertise in arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery, ligament reconstruction, cartilage repair and the management of complex patello‑femoral disorders.

He has a special interest in maximising outcomes following knee replacement surgery, particularly in younger patients, with a strong focus on reducing hospital stay and improving long‑term function and mobility.

🌿 Sustainable Style Swap Success! 🌿

Yesterday, Clifton Park Hospital was delighted to host our Sustainable Style Swap in partnership with IDAS (Independent Domestic Abuse Services) 💚

IDAS is the largest specialist charity in the North supporting people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. They provide a free, confidential helpline and vital outreach services, including safety planning and crisis management.

Members of the Clifton Park Hospital team invited family and friends to donate five items of clothing to swap over coffee and cake, while also taking the opportunity to hear from Lauren and Karen at IDAS, who spoke about the remarkable work the charity does every day.

Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we collectively raised £240 for IDAS 👏

🌟 Meet Mr Chris Lodge – Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon 🌟

We’d like to introduce Mr Chris Lodge, a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery, with extensive experience supporting patients living with pain and mobility problems caused by wear and tear, injury, and complex joint conditions.

He regularly works with patients experiencing:

✅ Hip and knee arthritis
✅ Pain and stiffness due to joint wear and tear
✅ Meniscal and cartilage injuries
✅ Complex or failed previous joint replacements
✅ Joint infection and revision surgery needs

Mr Lodge is dedicated to the care of patients affected by degenerative hip and knee conditions. He has a special interest in revision surgery, where complexity and variation require highly individualised surgical planning and expertise.

Coming from a farming background, Mr Lodge has a particular understanding of the physical demands placed on the body through manual and agricultural work. This insight helps him tailor treatment plans that support patients in returning to active, physically demanding roles where possible.

Our Story

Clifton Park Hospital opened in 2006 and is located just outside York. The modern purpose built hospital has been rated ‘Good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and has first-class medical facilities including 24 beds, two theatres, a day case unit, a large outpatient department with X-ray facilities and on-site physiotherapy, including a small gym area. In 2018, the hospital opened a new outpatient department with 11 consulting rooms, two treatment rooms and x-ray facilities.

As well as excellent transport links, the hospital is 10 minutes’ drive from the city centre and has ample free parking directly outside the hospital.

Clifton Park is a Centre of Excellence for Orthopaedics and specialises in all aspects of orthopaedic surgery and care from consultation right through to your aftercare. As well as orthopaedics, Clifton Park also specialises in breast, face, body and male cosmetic surgery.
