Exciting news! - well, exciting if you're interested in volunteering in the drug and alcohol treatment sector in York!

An opportunity is soon to be advertised to work with our duty team at Blossom Street in York being the face and voice of CGL in the city.

You will be picking up enquiries in person and over the phone from those who've made the decision to seek our help.

A really privileged position for which we need people who want to use their time - the most valuable thing they have - to help others.

A belated trip out today for our volunteers to Locked In Games in York. I'd never done an escape room before but luckily one of our number had! We had an excellent time working through the puzzles aided by our host for the morning with some well timed (and desired!) clues.

We followed up our audacious (although not record breaking) escape with a well deserved meal.

Thank you! to all of our great volunteers! We truly appreciate the time which you put in to helping make sure we deliver a great service where it's needed.

Looking forward to thinking how we can top this for next year. 😊

Last week we hosted the York Gambling Support Meeting with at the Hub for the first time.

AA P&I York start a meeting next month which will become a regular fixture.

We were blessed again this year by the sun for our BBQ at Blossom Street. Jointly with our partners York In Recovery CIC we were pleased to welcome people to our remodelled garden for food and good company.

The event had a fantastic community feel. The love and support were palpable and we got the chance to thank those who give their time to Recovery in York.

Special thanks to York Butchers Gild and Bookers for their very generous Donations. The meat, kindly provided by the Gild came from Voakes Free From and Wilson's Butchers in York and it was absolutely delicious!

Watch this space for plans for next year as we work towards York becoming an Inclusive Recovery City and potentially consider a different location for the annual BBQ.

Until then - work continues to support those who are recovery curious and in recovery in York. If you're interested in getting involved then please do get in touch.
