Ey up it’s Yorkshire Day… it’s about time they added a white rose emoji to the offering!

I’ve been quiet on here over the last few months. Sadly, it’s been a very busy time for us but I couldn’t let Yorkshire Day pass us by without a mention. So I’ll share this beautiful poem from Doreen Brigham to honour it 🤍

Sing a song of Yorkshire, from the Humber to the Tees.
Of horses, wool and terriers, of pudding and of cheese.
I know no other county where the land is quite so fine.
England’s lovely county. And I’m proud to call it mine.

Where shining purple heather stretches far across the moor,
and the lapwing’s cry above me takes the place of traffic roar.
And peace comes drifting gently, there’s no place I’d rather be
than this land of hills and valleys, from the Pennines to the sea.

So when I’ve done my roaming, and when my step grows slow;
when heart and mind assure me that the time has come to go,
then let me rest in Yorkshire, for it’s there I want to lie
‘neath sun and wind and heather… and a gleaming Yorkshire sky.

An exclusive and a first for us! Participating in media articles or interviews has never really felt right for our little family business, so I’ve tended to avoid them! However, when Connect2Care contacted us to ask if we would take part in a case study sharing our experience of Alfie’s apprenticeship I felt we owed it to them.

From the very first conversation with Erika I felt at ease, she really understood how protective we are of dedicating our time to our families. Every day became a school day. Anything new an opportunity for training! Alfie’s assessor, Chris Willin, became a friend. Guiding us through with understanding, compassion and empathy every step of the way ❤️

Huge thanks to everyone involved, highly recommended to any care professionals looking for a training provider.

As always Alfie, we’re very proud of you 🥰

We're looking forward to Ben and his family joining us for their first Sunday, a joint service at St Andrew's on 16th February.

This Tuesday marked 17 years since I joined the funeral profession. That’s half of my life!

I haven’t thought about these photos (taken in 2009) for a long time! The second is one of the very first funerals I had the privilege to care for during my time with York Coop, for one of our own family.

I’ll never take how important this is for granted. The trust that you all place in us is extraordinary 🤍

Here’s to the next 17 years 🥰

Christmas isn’t an easy time when you’re missing someone you love, the endless pressure to make the day perfect for others when something is missing for you. Wherever you’re spending your Christmas, I hope you have some time to relax and reflect on the happy times.

A heartfelt thank you to all who took the time to join us this evening for our Christmas Remembrance Service. It’s always so special to see you all and take some time out of this hectic month to remember those who can’t be with us.

Grateful thanks to Huntington Parish for welcoming us in to All Saints and allowing us to take over their beautiful church. Revd Chris Park, organist Peter and verger John, we really appreciate you taking the time out of your evening for us.

Feeling very honoured and humbled tonight.
