Around 375 babies each year begin their journey needing specialist care in York Hospital. The is aiming to raise £100,000 to help create a calm, comforting, and family-friendly space for these babies and their families.

Today is World Prematurity Day 💜

Here are some of the treats parents and babies will be enjoying on the unit! A BIG thank you to the support group and the ward team for making their World Prematurity Day a special one and one to remember. Today, we celebrate the courage of all families that have walked the NICU corridors and think of those babies who also could not come home.

The unit will soon be undergoing a refurbishment to create a more comfortable, supportive environment for babies and their families. Your experiences and insights are incredibly valuable in helping us shape these improvements.

This survey has been co-produced with the Trust and Neonatal Parents and Families in Yorkshire and Humber, it aims to ensure that the new unit truly meets the needs of neonatal families.

Through the , we can fund specialist equipment to help create a more comforting, family-friendly Neonatal Unit (previously known as the Special Care Baby Unit) at York Hospital.

From reclining chairs to twin cots and therapeutic skylights, your support will help transform clinical care into compassionate comfort.

These upgrades will create a calm and comforting space that supports families emotionally and physically.
