Baby Massage with Julia Kelly

Baby Massage with Julia Kelly International Association of Infant Massage certified instructor offering baby massage classes in the York area.

Infant massage is an ancient art practised in many parts of the world such as India and Africa. Over the last 30 years this traditional art has been introduced to the west and been practised in the UK since the late 1990’s. The IAIM massage course draws from both the Indian and Swedish massage traditions as well as incorporating principles from yoga and reflexology. Massaging your baby provides a

wonderful opportunity for expressing your love whilst meeting the high need for touch and affection so essential for the healthy development of all babies. The IAIM approach in classes

You are the only one who massages your baby. The instructor will use a doll for demonstration. We ask permission from the babies before massage and follow their cues, to help develop communication and feelings such as trust and respect between you and your baby. Our relaxed classes include some time for informal discussion between parents. Massage strokes are reviewed each week and handouts are given. We welcome babies to be babies, so please do
not be concerned about class times coinciding
with their sleep or feed times. The International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) was founded by Vimala McClure in the early 1980’s and has developed into an organisation which is represented in over 45 countries.
