Patient Success Story 🌟
We’d like to share an inspiring story from one of our patients here at MyHealth. Living with paraplegia and diabetes, he was diagnosed at age 60 following a routine check-up. Since then, he has worked incredibly hard to improve his diabetes control through consistent exercise and thoughtful dietary changes.
When he first began his journey, he could travel around 100 yards in his wheelchair — now he can cover an amazing six miles! He believes that “regular exercise, little and often,” is key, not only for physical wellbeing but also for keeping a clear head. Having always loved the outdoors, he was determined not to let his diagnosis change that.
Alongside his fitness progress, he’s made big changes to his diet —trying out Diabetes UK recipes, preparing overnight oats and soups, and avoiding processed foods.
He credits the support of our healthcare team for helping him stay motivated, recalling the advice from one of our nurses: “If you start making changes, your diabetes will too.” Within just a few weeks, he began to see real improvements.
His advice to others? Go at your own pace, set realistic and manageable goals, and find what works for you and your lifestyle. He also encourages surrounding yourself with people who can support and motivate you along the way.
He says he’s simply “happy to be alive” and hopes to maintain his progress and continue building on his success. His final message to others is truly powerful:
👉 “If you are given the chance to change your life — take it.”
