Happy Earth Day 2026

Today we celebrated with the usual planting of trees.

Mrs Jessamy got to visit the trees that were planted in 2009 when we first opened the garden to the public.

She can now enjoy the vitamin rich fruits of the west indian cherry tree (Malpighi glabra) which is a medicinal tree.

March 3 2026 - World Wildlife Day celebrated under the theme “Medicinal and Aromatic Plants : Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods “

At Jessamine Eden and Grenville Vale Tropical Botanic Gardens we are doing our part to conserve our heritage with over 161 medicinal plants native to the West Indies growing in the garden. Among them is the endangered species Guaiacum or Lignum vitae, tree of life.

Please do your part to conserve our heritage.
