The darkness is bringing everything to the light.
It’s uncovering trauma, past and present. It’s revealing cycles of abuse. Mental and emotional.
It’s making people face what they weren’t ready yet to face. To feel, and to fully and honestly acknowledge.
It’s showing us behaviours from others that we once thought were perfectly normal and acceptable.
It’s allowing us the opportunity to “sort through ourselves” and to decide what and who we really want in ours lives. And it’s forcing us to choose what we want to tolerate, and what we do not want to tolerate.
It’s causing us to realize where our own unhealthy patterns derived from, and how we can now change what no longer works for us. What isn’t right for us anymore.
This darkness has revealed to us our own darkness so that we can heal what we once refused to feel. It’s encouraging us to love the pieces of ourselves that we were too scared to love.
This last year has caused so many of us to come apart at the seams. To unravel at the soul. It’s brought us to our knees and knocked us so far down, we thought we’d never get back up.
But, we did. We’re still standing. And some of us are standing a little bit stronger. A little bit braver. And you will too.
When they say, “the cure to your pain is in your pain,” what that means is, in order to heal your pain, you must first venture into all the places within yourself that you once feared going. It means, if you want to free yourself from all the things that broke little pieces of your heart, you must expose yourself to all those “little” things.
Perhaps for you too, this year has been the catalyst for you to uncover and discover your own truth and for you to finally see and step into who you truly are, at the very essence of your beautiful being.
There cannot be light without darkness. This year has taught me the gift of both. 💛
