Base Oil, Botanicals and Essential Oils

— Base Oils- are oils from many different plants and vegetables. Each oil imparts its own unique quality. Some have therapeutic properties, while others add colour or texture. Some make a harder or softer bar of soap , some produce a rich lather, and others silky, creamy bubbles. E.g. Avocado, Coconut.



— Botanicals- are herbs, spices and flower petals that you add to create texture, colour and enhance scent. They can be used as decorative topping or finely ground to add texture to your soaps etc Cinnamon, parsley, thyme.



— Essential Oils – are natural ingredients, the very essence of the plant itself. Extracted from the flowers, fruit, leaves, bark and roots of the plant used both for their scent and therapeutic qualities e.g. ginger, lemon grass, lime, lavender, grapefruit.
