📌 დღეს — 2025 წლის 18 აგვისტოს — თამაზ კერესელიძის (1925–1998) დაბადებიდან 100 წელი შესრულდა.
🔹პროფესორი თამაზ კერესელიძე იყო ექიმი, მიკრობიოლოგი და საზოგადოებრივი ჯანდაცვის გამორჩეული წარმომადგენელი. იგი წლების განმავლობაში ხელმძღვანელობდა თსსუ-ის მიკრობიოლოგიის, ვირუსოლოგიისა და იმუნოლოგიის კათედრას.
🌍 1964 წლიდან აქტიურად იყო ჩართული ჯანდაცვის მსოფლიო ორგანიზაციის საქმიანობაში. მუშაობდა ინდოეთში, ნეპალში, პაკისტანში, ავღანეთში და ბანგლადეშში შავი ჭირის, ქოლერისა და ყვავილის წინააღმდეგ მიმართულ პროგრამებში.
✨ განსაკუთრებული წვლილი შეიტანა ყვავილის გლობალურ აღმოფხვრაში – რისთვისაც დაჯილდოვდა WHO-ის უნიკალური ორდენით „ბიფურკაციის ნემსი “
🏆 1980 წელს WHO-მ ოფიციალურად გამოაცხადა, რომ კაცობრიობამ დაამარცხა ყვავილი. ამ გლობალური პროგრამის ექსპერტთა ჯგუფი, რომლის წევრი თამაზ კერესელიძეც იყო, ნობელის პრემიაზე წარადგინეს.
📖 მისი მემკვიდრეობა მოიცავს 100-ზე მეტ სამეცნიერო ნაშრომს, მონოგრაფიებსა და სახელმძღვანელოებს. 1994 წელს იგი გახდა საქართველოს მეცნიერებათა აკადემიის აკადემიკოსი.

🎓 თსსუ-ის მიკრობიოლოგიის კათედრის ორგანიზებით , ევროპის კლინიკური მიკრობიოლოგიის და ინფექციური დაავადებების საზოგადოების მხარდაჭერით (ESCMID) და ივანე თარხნიშვილის სახელობის სტუდენტთა სამეცნიერო საზოგადოების აქტიური ჩართულობით გაიმართება საერთაშორისო კონფერენცია:
🌍 თანამედროვე გამოწვევები და ჯანდაცვის გლობალური საკითხები მიკრობიოლოგიაში – აღმოსავლეთ ევროპასა და კავკასიის რეგიონზე ფოკუსირებით.
🗓 24 ნოემბერი – ექიმების, მიკრობიოლოგების, ინფექციონისტებისა და ლაბორატორიული მედიცინის სპეციალისტებისთვის განკუთვნილი სესია.

📌 Today — August 18, 2025 — marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Tamaz Kereselidze (1925–1998).
🔹 Professor Tamaz Kereselidze was a physician, microbiologist, and a distinguished figure in public health. For many years, he headed the Department of Microbiology, Virology, and Immunology at Tbilisi State Medical University.
🌍 Since 1964, he had been actively involved in the work of the World Health Organization (WHO). He worked in India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh on programs against plague, cholera, and smallpox.
✨ He made an exceptional contribution to the global eradication of smallpox – for which he was awarded WHO’s unique “Bifurcation Needle” Order.
🏆 In 1980, WHO officially declared that humankind had defeated smallpox. The global expert group that included Tamaz Kereselidze was nominated for the Nobel Prize.
📖 His legacy includes more than 100 scientific works, monographs, and textbooks. In 1994, he was elected a full member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.

🎓 Organized by the Department of Microbiology at TSMU, with the support of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID) and the active involvement of the Ivane Tarkhnishvili Student Scientific Society, an international conference will be held:
🌍 Modern Challenges and Global Health Issues in Microbiology – Focusing on Eastern Europe and the Caucasus Region
🗓 November 24 – Session for physicians, microbiologists, infectious disease specialists, and laboratory medicine professionals.
