Because we feel strongly about this beautiful place up in the mountains of the Caucasus, we have created our company A World Away: Raw Georgia, the diamond at the center of the Caucasus. Like it's art, Georgia and it's people keep up their ancient traditions daily whether it's expressed through language, food, songs or just taking a stroll down Rustaveli Avenue or a short trip to the old capital Mtskheta. This is the birthplace of wine and a world where the traditions of the past are alive. It is the soul of a people and we are excited to share it with you. Georgia's roots are intertwined with it's Geographical neighbors. One of the only places in the old world that still boasts a church, a mosque and a synagogue all existing side by side in harmony. At the crossroads between East and West along the ancient Silk Road it bears a long history of occupation, collaboration and the quest for independence. It is this spirit that permeates Georgia's most cherished stories. It is the ancient land of Colchis and the Golden Fleece. It is where a young captive maiden, Nino, brings Christianity to the people of the mountains in the early 4th century. Her plaited hair woven into a cross today still a unique symbol of their faith. King Vakhtang, a falconer who in the 6th century moves the capital to Tbilisi, above the natural sulfuric healing waters. And their is David the Builder who united the kingdoms and the principalities in the 11th century bringing the various tribes of the region under one rule. Heralding in the golden age the founder of the modern Georgia adopts the language of the Karts, Sakartvelo, with an alphabet unique as many of this country's own creations. It is a land that today still looks to preserve its spirit and soul.
