The mission of the organization is to provide physical and mental well-beingof the population of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, in particular people withhealthcare and psycho-social needs, as well as youth / adolescents.
We believe that mental and physical health are necessary prerequisite for aperson's full life.Accordingly, we want an environment where human rights are protected and a wide variety of health and social services are available to the public, especially vulnerable groups.
To do this, the organization offers targeted, preventive, curative, rehabilitationand social services to target groups; protects their interests and carries out capacity building activities; It also works to raise public awareness of physical andmental health.
The work of the organization is based on the principles of acceptance, compassion, support, equality and cooperation.
Association XENON works with People Who Inject Drugs and their sexual partners; with different patient communities (oncology patients, hepatitis C, HIVinfected, TB patients); Victims of torture and inhuman treatment. IDPs, adolescents/youth, general population.
Since 2004 till today, Association XENON implemented more than 40 projectsconcerning harm reduction caused by drug usage, advocacy for the rights of drugusers and access to healthcare service.
Since 2005 until today association XENON has been implementing the project ofthe Global Fund: “Strengthening and assuring the sustainability of HIV/AIDS Prevention,Treatment, Care Activities in Georgia“ project “Provision of HIV prevention services to People whoinject drugs and their sexual partners”. (Donor: Global Fund).
Since 2008, the Association XENON has been actively advocating for the rights ofvulnerable groups. XENON is one of the first to create a model drug servicefocused on female drug users in Georgia; Together with the Harm Reduction and Health Care Organizations, the Coalition has begun work on access to treatment and diagnosis of hepatitis C in the country.
Since 2010, the Association XENON has been working to improve the life qualityof families of the missing persons and those, who have suffered during the armedconflict. The organization has provided psychological, psycho-social and legal support for more than 400 families living in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Region (Donor: International Committee of the Red Cross).
In 2017-2019, the organization has expanded its services to the families ofmissing persons and victims of torture and ill-treatment. (Donor: United Nations Voluntary Fund for Torture Victims (UNVFVT)).
In 2014-2018, the organization works with children and adolescents to develophealthy lifestyles and develop their psycho-emotional potential through variousmethods of sports and arts; Donor: PH International Georgia.
In 2016-2017, association XENON has implemented the project “Harm reduction basedand peer supported Hepatitis C treatment for PWID”. (Donor: Medicines’ du monde (MDM)).
In 2017, the association XENON implemented the project for early detection and effectivemanagement of oncological diseases in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region (donor: Open Society Georgia Foundation (OSGF).
In November 2018, Association XENON joined the State Program of C HepatitisElimination and offered free diagnostics/treatment to Hepatitis C patients.
