The Energy Of Anxiety: How To Overcome Anxiety Through Modern Therapy

15/05/2022

So often our biggest limiter is our own thinking. I could give you many examples of my life where I thought certain successes were not for the likes of me, whether that was in terms of sporting or career.

The positive of this is that I have been able to use this knowledge to help others. Often a lack of self-belief stops us giving things our very best shot. It might cause us to be too anxious to try something. We can put others on a pedestal and believe the type of success they have is far out of reach.

Yet, in reality, success is largely a state of mind. Of course different factors come into whether or not we reach the heights of success but when we commit to something 100% we will go far. Often it's not the most naturally talented people who are the most successful. It's commonly those who fully commit and believe they will achieve who get the furthest.

Consider for a moment what you would go for if you fully believed in yourself and then decide what is stopping you.

Our bodies were not designed to be in long term stress. However, modern times have created an existence for many of us where stress is part of every day.

That stress might be related to family, finances or work life but extends to friendships and even social media. If you have children then of course you worry about them and feel stressed whenever they have problems.

Stress has to go somewhere. If you are living with long term stress then it will show itself in any number of ways. This might be through physical or mental health, unhealthy habits or addiction. Anxiety and depression are common illnesses following overload of stress.

It is vitally important to address stress for your own good health. Often we convince ourselves that we just have to live with this stress and that might be true in some cases. In other situations, you might be able to lessen the stress, learn better coping techniques or release it altogether.

Some of the stress you are feeling might be caused by your own thinking patterns or because you are busy making sure everyone else is okay and ignoring your own well-being. So a good place to start is to look at your life and the causes of stress. There might be some simple changes you can make today.

If you would like to discuss any issues that you'd like to address please do get in touch.

We are now in a world where bullying has become easier to do due to social media. The only way we stand a chance of stopping it is for all organisations including schools, places of work, clubs, organisations and all social media to take a no tolerance stance and past experience shows this will not happen. It seems that even those listed above fear the bully. Bullying even happens in families - the place where we should all feel safe.

The damage done by bullying can be immense. We know very sadly it can lead to people taking their own lives. In other ways it damages self-esteem, self-worth, confidence and causes anxiety and depression.

We do need to talk about bullying. It should never be swept under the carpet. It seems that many organisations want to put on a portrayal of "not in my backyard" but that is just false.

As parents, from a young age, help your children understand their worth so they can gain a positive view of themselves, which can be built into their psyche at a young age when it matters. This way it is harder for the bullies to damage that. Keep communication lines open. Be comfortable talking about your own experiences as this might help your child not only open up but also not become a bully as they understand the impact.

All organisations need to start with anti-bullying at entry level. This should be high on the agenda as a topic for education and discussion that never gets pushed aside. The bullies need to have self-respect and self-worth themselves. Bullying might never go away but positive action can be taken.

Overthinking is usually a key symptom of anxiety. Our mind wants to keep us safe and so searches for worst case scenarios. We over think because our brain is seeking solutions. However, we just end up in a negative spiral because we cannot resolve the issue.

We also end up with a very cluttered mind and clouded thinking.

Addressing the overthinking pattern within the mind is important but other steps also need to be taken to really get a grip on anxiety. My therapies are so much more than helping you to relax.

One area is to release any trauma (however big or small) within the subconscious mind. Importantly, using hypnotherapy and other techniques, this can be done without needing to discuss the trauma. It can be a quick process leaving you feeling so much lighter.

Once the trauma is released, techniques can be used to address the overthinking behaviour. Of course there are a few other tricks to improving your life so that anxiety feels like a thing of the past.

I've spent 10 years helping anxiety sufferers regain their power. This has led me to creating a website specifically on this topic so you have the information you need right there to make a decision about therapy: https://www.anxietytoempower.com

Most of us have been in a stress bubble for the past 2 years and for others much longer. One of the most challenging things for many has been uncertainty and constant changing of restrictions. As we hopefully move forward now, we need to take care of ourselves and re-address our well-being balance.

The causes of anxiety can go as far back as your childhood. A question I will ask my clients is "how long have you been anxious". Some people will tell me "forever". However, more often than not, there is a trigger event or cluster of events which is the beginning of that anxiety pattern.

Many people do not realise that by working with the subconscious mind, in a therapeutic setting, in order to release those subconscious blocks and help create a much healthier belief system, can really go to the root of that anxiety. Add to this some simple mindset techniques to help create more positive thinking patterns and you can start to live a much happier life.

Commonly anxiety sufferers feel others are judging them, believe they are not good enough, lack self-esteem and confidence, expect the worst to happen and are frequently people pleasers. However, there can be many other aspects to anxiety.

Many situations result in stress and some of the stress we experience is self-inflicted due to the pressure we put on ourselves. Other times we struggle to let go of something that has happened. If you are feeling stressed, we can get to the root of this and work through solutions.

I've been working with clients in my private studio for the past 10 years which has given me a great insight into these matters. The reason I wrote my first book, The Energy of Anxiety, was because I wanted to be able to help more people who experienced anxiety.

**TESTIMONIAL - SELF BELIEF/CONFIDENCE & MOTIVATION **

"Ann creates a lovely safe space for you to express and work through your inner most thoughts and problems. She takes the time to listen, understand what you need and it feels like there is no ’set plan’ but instead Ann is flexible and versatile depending what you need.

I felt a great shift in my self-confidence and self-belief within a few sessions and found myself much more motivated and productive. I also feel I have more skills to work through problems and question what might be going on. I can catch myself before going down a negative thought spiral and stand back to question is what I am thinking/believing true or not."

THE CURSE OF COMPARISON

This issue is the cause of many problems for youngsters, especially with relation to self-esteem and self-worth.

We compare ourselves to others more than ever now. This is exacerbated by social media of course. We are led into a false sense of reality as everybody dresses their social media shop window exactly as they wish, in order to portray whatever they desire to the world. Many use social media as a means of achieving self-worth. This is an unhealthy approach because you are relying on others to make you feel good. It is important that you feel good in your own right.

When you look into a shop window, you only see part of what is in the shop. There is a lot more to be seen. The same goes for us. We can hide depression and anxiety behind our social media shop windows. We can hide our worries, fears and family difficulties. No-one needs to see our lack of self-esteem or confidence. We can choose to share our struggles with the world or keep them completely to ourselves. To the world, we can be confident, happy, positive, have self-esteem and appear to have a great life. Whereas the reality can be a totally different picture.

I see beautiful faces, all wrinkles ironed out, faces and bodies changing shape. A touch of this and that to change the contours. It’s not just how we look that we compare but our lives, jobs and possessions too. This leads to people believing that others are doing far better, are happier than them and more beautiful or handsome. We assess our life by how well we believe we are doing compared to others.

Let’s step back into the real world and consider for a moment that everyone has struggles at some point in their lives. You only have to look at celebrities who, on the face of it, have a brilliant life, but underneath they suffer and struggle and question themselves. Does that sounds familiar?

“Mama, build me another world.
A world with all my friends.
A world where people have a whole face.
A world where my grandma stuffs me with apple pie again and takes me in her arms when I have a stomach ache.
A world where I can play on the playground again.
A world where I can celebrate my birthday again, go to sports or music school.
A world where people look forward to each other again and are not afraid of each other.
A world in which I can be a normal child again." .......Author unknown.

We are living in troubled times and there are more than enough reasons for you to be suffering anxiety. There can be a number of reasons for anxiety. Largely this is related to events in your life and what you believe. People will anxiety also develop unhelpful thinking patterns which can become incredibly destructive.

I work with my clients to release matters in the subconscious mind which contribute to anxiety, as well as help you develop simple, yet effective, new thinking patterns.

Very often, anxiety sufferers lack confidence and self-esteem. If this is you, then I will also help to build up your confidence and self-esteem.

When you are going through a tough time, it can be the little gestures that make the biggest difference. Sometimes those don't come from the obvious people.

That kindness can give you hope. Knowing that someone else cares enough to do something kind for you, whether or not it changes your situation, can help you feel you are not fighting the battle alone. 💜🌻🌈

Would you like to feel good about yourself?

Do you lack confidence, self-esteem, feel worthless or not good enough? Far too many people feel this way. I know this because, through my work as a therapist, feeling bad about yourself is a common theme and the root cause of many other issues.

It's time to stop allowing other people to dictate whether you are worthy or good enough. You probably need to worry less what others think. How good would this feel? I am telling you now, you are good enough but you probably don't believe it. However, you can change the way you feel about yourself.

If you would like to find out how I can help you or make a general enquiry please contact me on ann@hypnotherapy.gg or visit my website www.hypnotherapy.gg.
