THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK - WHAT HAS “ACCOMPANIMENT” GOT TO DO WITH ANYTHING? Last week’s Thought for the Week was “Transforming Purpose into Action” and, while purpose answers the question of ‘why’, intention answers the question of ‘how’ – how we show up, interact, and bring our values to each moment. If you missed it, you can catch up here: https://shorturl.at/e1jNx

Great leaders know that communication is more than delivering services or sharing expertise - it's about walking alongside others. True communication in leadership is rooted in empathy and Empathy really is a superpower!

Along with Empathy, Accompaniment is the art of being present, listening deeply, and empowering those we lead.

When we accompany someone, we practice patience, allowing relationships and ideas to grow naturally. We foster trust by tuning into their rhythm, meeting them where they are. It’s not about control but about creating a space where they feel supported and empowered to shine.

Accompaniment strengthens empathy, builds connection, and inspires others to bring their best selves to the table. This week, consider: How can you show up, not just to lead but to listen and empower?

For more on Accompaniment, read the blog here: https://shorturl.at/3yclW

“Leadership is not about directing the orchestra; sometimes it’s about playing alongside and letting others shine.” – Max Lucado - [Best-selling author who, in his own words, “writes books for people who don't read books.”]

This week, I invite you to practice accompaniment in your interactions. Whether through a conversation, a shared task, or simply being present, focus on the connection. By walking alongside others, both literally and figuratively, we create trust, understanding, and shared strength for the journey ahead.

With warmest wishes, Korinne

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – ALIGNING VULNERABILITY WITH YOUR TRUE NORTH
Last week’s Thought for the Week was “Break Free from the Judgment Trap”, and if someone is being openly judgemental toward us, it’s easy to feel attacked. However, how we respond can shift the energy of the conversation by the way we respond. We also explored how we can be our own worst judges!
If you missed it, you can catch up here: https://shorturl.at/IgKrc

We often hold back from showing our vulnerability out of fear of being judged - whether by others or ourselves. This fear can prevent us from building stronger, more authentic connections. But what happens when we let go of that fear and allow ourselves to be vulnerable as leaders? Let me share a story from my time working at British Airways …

I have shared with you how I was a Duty Manager in the Lost Baggage Department with British Airways; well prior to that, I was a special services representative, looking after the VIP’s, CIP’s, Royalty etc. Then I was promoted to the lost baggage role.

The first hurdle I had to jump was hearing comments on Day 1 from my new team such as “What’s this ‘posh bird’ from Special Services who is joining as one of our managers going to know about what we do?” They already had a perception of me, and it wasn’t a welcoming one. I had this lump in my throat and was feeling anxious and self-doubt was kicking in for sure!

Yes, I went from one extreme to the other, didn’t I? And while I wanted a new challenge, I quickly realised that this was a daunting one. My confidence wavered, and I couldn’t help but wonder: Would this team accept me? Could I lead effectively when I barely understood the daily struggles they faced?

It would have been easy to put on a brave face, pretend I had it all figured out, and hope they’d come around. But something told me that wasn’t the answer. So, on one of my first days, I decided to show vulnerability instead and decided to address the elephant in the room … read on here: https://shorturl.at/LaKcJ

As Bill George wisely quoted: "True north is about authenticity and vulnerability. People want to follow someone who is real and open, not someone who is pretending to be something they are not."[Former CEO of Medtronic, Author of Authentic Leadership]

I’d love to hear about your experiences!
Thank you for taking the time to share this journey with me. Wishing you a week filled with authenticity, vulnerability and great connections!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK - How Perspective Changes Everything
Welcome back and I hope this email finds you well and thriving. Last week’s Thought was “Connecting Cultures and Decades” and how, by actively listening, seeking diverse perspectives, and practicing cultural sensitivity, we can build bridges of empathy that transcend cultural and generational divides. If you missed it, catch up here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1fu

This week I’d like to delve deeper into a concept that is essential to both our personal growth and our ability to communicate effectively - perspective.

I shared before how I was a Duty Manager in the lost baggage department at British Airways. In my role there, I had to manage negative customer feedback all the time, some of which could be quite critical. Early in my career, I sometimes took negative feedback personally, assuming the customers were simply being difficult or unreasonable.

However, over time, I found myself empathising more with the traveller who had just lost their bag. I realised that when we show genuine understanding of their situation, clearly explain the steps we’ll take to locate their bag and ensure they have what they most need until it’s found and delivered to their home or hotel, it goes a long way in reassuring them.

By approaching their comments with an open mind and seeking to understand the underlying concerns, I was able to implement changes that not only improved our offerings but also strengthened our customer relationships. This experience taught me that what may seem like criticism is often a valuable perspective that can drive positive change.

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that our way of seeing things is the only way. Read on here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1gz

This week, I invite you to consider this and embrace the wonder of perspective in your interactions. Next time you find yourself in a disagreement or facing a differing opinion, pause and consider the possibility that both sides could be right. By doing so, you’ll not only improve your communication but also deepen your understanding of the world around you.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK - Connecting Cultures and Decades
Welcome back! In last week’s Thought, we imagined the possibility of time travel and how our conversations might evolve if we could connect with historical figures or glimpse into the future. If you missed it, catch up here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1eM

This week let's ground our exploration in the present and consider how we can cultivate empathy and understanding across diverse cultures and generations. In our increasingly interconnected world, how can we foster deeper connections with people whose experiences and perspectives differ from our own?

The Power of Empathetic Listening:
Empathy begins with actively listening to others. When we take the time to understand someone's viewpoint, values, beliefs, cultural background or generational context, we open ourselves to richer, more meaningful interactions.

Bridging Generational Gaps:
Every generation brings unique experiences and wisdom. By engaging in conversations with those older or younger than us, we can bridge generational gaps and learn from each other.

Cultural Exchange and Mutual Respect:
In our globalised society, cultural exchange is more accessible than ever. Virtual travel, language learning apps, and international collaborations enable us to immerse ourselves in different cultures without leaving our homes. By approaching these opportunities with curiosity and respect, we can cultivate mutual understanding and appreciation for the rich diversity of human life.

For Five Practical Steps to Foster Empathy read on here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1fu

As we continue to navigate an era of digital proximity and global connectivity, let's prioritise empathy and understanding in our interactions. By actively listening, seeking diverse perspectives, and practicing cultural sensitivity, we can build bridges of empathy that transcend cultural and generational divides.

This week, as you connect with others - whether through video calls, social media, or in-person interactions - embrace the opportunity to learn and grow. Consider how these conversations enrich your life and contribute to a more empathetic and connected world.

"When you show deep empathy toward others, their defensive energy goes down, and positive energy replaces it. That’s when you can get more creative in solving problems" - As Stephen Covey-

Have a wonderful week, and let's continue building those bridges of empathy and connection!

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – The Strength of Silence
Welcome back and I hope you are going strong this week! Last week’s Thought was about mastering interruptions with grace and how handling interruptions while staying authentic is a delicate balance. If you missed it, you can catch up here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1a4

How often do we experience silence during the course of our day?

In our noisy world, silence can feel uncomfortable or even awkward. We often rush to fill gaps in conversation, fearing the quiet moments. However, embracing silence can enhance our communication, allowing us to listen more deeply, reflect thoughtfully, and respond authentically.

I remember hearing as a child; “silence is a virtue” and always associated that with “being seen and not heard”! Perhaps that is one reason why so many of us are uncomfortable with silence?

We also heard, “silence is golden”.

As adults, silence is often overlooked and actually serves as a powerful counterbalance to the constant barrage of words and interruptions. It gives us space to process what we've heard, consider our responses, and connect more meaningfully with others. In addition, it can be a profound tool in our interactions, helping us to stay true to ourselves and foster deeper connections.

Personally, I see silence as a gift. A gift we can give to ourselves and others.

In the blog this week, we will explore three key ways to embrace silence in communication in our daily lives. You can read on here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1aB

It’s all about embracing the balance. Integrating silence into our communication requires practice and mindfulness.

It involves recognising the value of quiet moments and trusting that they enrich our interactions. By embracing silence, we can stay true to ourselves, enhance our listening skills, and build more meaningful connections.

Remember that silence is not an absence but a presence. It is a space where we have time to think, understand and when connection can flourish.

“Silence is a source of great strength "-Lao Tzu-

Wishing you a week filled with mindful pauses and deeper connections.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – Mastering Interruptions with Grace
Welcome back and I hope you are thriving! Last week’s Thought was about finding our authentic voice, being true to ourselves and our values so we connect more deeply with others and pave the way for greater success and fulfilment. If you missed it, you can catch up here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-19f

This week let's tackle a common conundrum: handling interruptions while staying true to ourselves and fostering meaningful connections.

In our fast-paced world, interruptions are inevitable. Whether in a meeting, during a conversation with a loved one, or while working on an important project, these disruptions can test our patience and focus. However, managing interruptions gracefully is crucial to maintaining our authenticity and building strong relationships.

Navigating interruptions is challenging. It requires balancing the need to assert ourselves with the desire to be respectful and empathetic.

Interruptions can make us feel unheard or devalued, leading to frustration and a loss of connection. Yet, they also offer opportunities to practice patience, reinforce our boundaries, and deepen our understanding of others.

In this week’s blog, I share three Powerful Tips to Handle Interruptions Authentically. Read on here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-1a4

Remember, each interruption is an opportunity to practice patience, empathy, and assertiveness. As you apply these tips, notice how your interactions become more respectful and connected.

As Nelson Mandela once said: “Graceful handling of interruptions is a sign of a composed and confident mind."

Wishing you a week filled with mindful conversations and meaningful connections.

With warmest wishes,
Korinne - Thrive Coaching & Training

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – FINDING OUR AUTHENTIC VOICE
Welcome back and I hope you are feeling refreshed and inspired. I have had an action-packed week as I move things forward in my business which is very exciting! Last week’s Thought was all about the importance of embracing change for personal and professional growth. If you missed it, you can catch up here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-18W

This week, I’d like to dive deeper into a related challenge many of us face: finding and using our authentic voice.

In today's world, we have an array of communication tools at our disposal. From emails and social media to video conferencing and instant messaging, the ways we can connect and share our thoughts are virtually limitless. Yet, despite these tools, many of us struggle to find our authentic voice. We feel held back, unable to express ourselves genuinely and stand out in our personal and professional lives.

Finding your authentic voice isn't just about speaking up; it’s about being true to yourself and your values. It’s about expressing your thoughts, ideas, and emotions in a way that resonates with who you are at your core. When we communicate authentically, we not only connect more deeply with others but also pave the way for greater success and fulfilment.

As I mentioned last week, I have a new programme starting on 01 Oct to help with this. It's called "The Connection Catalyst" and I will share more on this soon.

In the blog this week, I share a few steps to help you find and nurture your authentic voice. Read on here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-19f

In Nelson Mandela’s own words: "As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."

By finding and using our authentic voices, we can thrive not only in our careers but also in our personal lives. And another thing, it becomes so much easier when we can do that! Book a Discovery Call with me here: https://shorturl.at/TQXER

Let’s embrace this journey of self-discovery and communication. Together, we can create a more genuine and impactful connection with the world around us.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – Building Bonds in a Tech-Driven World 🌐Welcome back to another week of self-discovery and growth! Last week’s Thought was; “Grow, Rise and Thrive!” when I shared my thoughts on why continuous learning is essential even more than ever in our rapidly evolving World. If you missed it, you can catch up on the blog here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-17D

This week let's explore another equally transformative topic: the changing landscape of communication.

The way we connect and communicate has undergone a profound transformation. With mobile devices, we have access to unprecedented means of staying in touch with each other, no matter where we are. From text messages and social media to video calls and instant messaging apps, our ability to communicate has never been more versatile or instantaneous.

While these technological advancements offer convenience and connectivity, they also present new challenges. The question is, how can we ensure that our digital interactions are as meaningful and impactful as face-to-face conversations? I share more tips in this week’s blog – see here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-18g

"The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed."
-Carl Jung- [Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst]

On that note, I will leave you with a question; if we don’t adapt and change the way we connect with each other, where will humanity be in 50 years’ time?

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – Grow, Rise and Thrive! 🌱
Welcome back to another week of self-discovery and growth! Last week’s Thought was; “The Here and Now is Everything” when I shared some insights and tips on mindfulness and reinforcing feelings of self-worth and confidence in your daily routine. I hope you found this of value - did you do the chocolate meditation? If so, I would love to hear what you thought.

This week, we're diving into the transformative power of continuous learning and personal development. Why? Embracing lifelong learning is not just beneficial but essential in today's rapidly evolving world.

Throughout my personal and professional journey, I have always been hungry to learn, and it hasn’t just been about knowledge, it has also been about experiences and exploring different concepts.

I have always gravitated towards continual learning, embracing diversity, and venturing into uncharted territories and prefer to constructively question the “status quo” than adhering blindly to conventions!

I think I have shared with you before that the kind of films I most enjoy are around some kind of concept where we have to think outside the box! One example of that is “Sliding Doors” which is all about how a few seconds in time can change the course of our lives. I can look back on these moments and this has been quite profound for me.

In this week’s blog, I will go deeper into why continuous learning is essential, even more so in today’s world essential – read on here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-17D

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – The Here and Now is Everything!
Welcome back! Last week’s Thought was; “Self-Talk Dynamics” about the profound impact of our internal dialogue and the conversations we have with ourselves. If you missed it, you can catch up on the blog here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-16Z

Following our recent discussions on communication and personal empowerment, I wanted to share some additional insights on reinforcing feelings of self-worth and confidence in your daily routine.

Is Mindfulness something that you practice on a daily basis? This has changed my life in a profound and lasting way and it can for you too.

When I talk about mindfulness, people’s favourite exercise is always the “Chocolate mediation”! (See link in my blog so you can try it out at home –have some chocolate!)

Staying present in the moment and observing your thoughts without judgment gives us greater focus, clarity and intention. In turn, this fosters healthier and more empowering interactions with others.

And, it’s so important to remember to celebrate your achievements, no matter how small! And to seek support when needed. You're not alone on your journey, and reaching out to trusted friends, family members, or professionals can provide invaluable support and encouragement.

In this week’s blog, I share some great Mindfulness tips and, even if you are already aware of it, there may be one more golden nugget in there that really helps! Read the full blog post here: https://wp.me/pbwxI2-178
