I’m quite emotional right now. 🥹
I woke up to a few messages like:

“I like what you’re doing for the children”
“I want to support”
“Please keep me anonymous”
Thank you to all those supporting this cause, and especially for the TRUST.

This is just the beginning. It may seem like child’s play now, but Happy Daffodils is going global. In less than 3 months, we’ve been able to secure over $122k per year in-kind tech grants (from Microsoft & Google). Just imagine what we will achieve in a span of 1 - 5 years.

This was a vision in 2022 which I kept under my pillow, until my mum’s passing became the catalyst.

We are currently building the first-ever computer lab for the Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi Basic School.

So, a quick plea: If you have any desktop PC that you do not want, or even one that needs fixing, kindly send them our way. We will give it a second life and use it to change the lives of these children.

I’m so excited about the future and the lives of many young ones I am about to impact globally.

We have 12 children left to go.

Please look at this beautiful girl. Her situation is even more critical because she has no uniform at all. This dress is what she wears to school from Monday to Friday.

Let’s give these remaining children the dignity they deserve.

Hi family,

We’re still here to raise funds for the 22 pupils of Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi. What we have so far won’t cover all of them.

We want to get the fabrics and measurements done this week, before the school closes for the Christmas break.

That way, the seamstres can work on them during the holidays, and the children can start the New Year (January Term) with their brand-new uniforms.

No amount is too small. Please, dor the sake of these brilliant but needy children🙏

Meet Randy

Until last Wednesday, when the Headmaster sent us pictures, We didn’t realize the shirt he was wearing was actually from a church or another school.
We honestly thought it was just his Friday wear. We were wrong. That is the only shirt he has.

And if you look closely, you’ll see other children have no uniform at all. We have received some donations so far, but they are not enough to cover the 22 children who need new ones.

But look at their energy.

You can see the children “competing” just to touch the laptop… no be small ‘tug of war’. They’ve never touched one. They have the potential. They are ready. All they lack are the tools.

This is why our first-ever Computer Lab project is so dear to us. It’s going to change the digital future of 223 children at Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi Basic School.

For the Uniforms: We need cash donations to reach the remaining children.

Happy Daffodils remains strictly a digital literacy nonprofit, but we cannot look away when we see a school in need of basic dignity. This is a necessary detour, separate from our main digital inclusion projects. To learn effectively, a child first needs dignity and confidence.

Following the support for Verity yesterday, we asked the Headmaster to help us identify every pupil in urgent need of a new uniform.

We have just received the data. There are 21 other pupils who are currently attending classes in torn, outgrown clothes or have none at all.

We want to cover them all immediately.

Depending on the size of the child, the cost for fabric and workmanship ranges between:
120 GHS – 180 GHS per uniform.

Every single Cedi goes directly to the local dressmaker, Yorm, to get these children fitted.

Let’s give them the confidence they need to sit in class and learn.

We saw this photo while going through Happy Daffodils’ Adaklu Trip folder yesterday. We almost scrolled past, but something made our founder swipe back to be sure of what we were seeing. It broke our hearts. We were there to assess the school for our Computer Lab project, but in the moment, we missed this personal detail.

We immediately messaged the headmaster for details. Her name is Verity Kpatakplabi, a pupil at Adaklu Kpodzi Basic School. We asked for an estimate to fix this quickly, and he told us 120 Cedis covers both the fabric and the workmanship to get her a brand-new uniform. She deserves the dignity of a proper uniform.

We shared this yesterday, and we have an amazing update: Verity is covered.❤️

A generous donor who prefers to remain anonymous has just paid for Verity’s new school uniform and kickstarted the fund to help other children in the same situation.

However, we know there are more students who need this help. The door is still wide open. If you are moved to give, your donation will now go directly to the next child on the list.

Happy Daffodils remains strictly a digital literacy nonprofit, but we cannot look away when we see a school in need of basic dignity. This is a special community intervention separate from our main digital inclusion projects. Technology doesn't exist in a vacuum. To learn effectively, a child first needs dignity and confidence.

With my mother’s legacy to carry on, I knew I had to start right here in her hometown. We are aiming to build the first-ever computer lab for the Adaklu Kpodzi Basic School. From Kindergarten to Primary 6.

We believe when the foundations are strong, the future is secure.

A privilege to stand with the town linguist of Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi. In his eyes, and in our conversation, I felt a powerful sense of hope.

A hope that, together, Happy Daffodils can make this computer lab a DREAM COME TRUE for the children of Adaklu Ahunda Kpodzi Basic School.
