Do you notice a small yellowish or whitish bump on the white part of your eye, close to the cornea? 👀🌤️
It could be a condition called Pinguecula.
🔎 What is Pinguecula?
Pinguecula is a common, non-cancerous growth that appears on the conjunctiva (the clear tissue covering the white part of your eye). It often looks like a tiny, raised yellowish spot, usually near the nose side of the eye.
⚠️ Causes & Risk Factors:
1️⃣ Excessive sun exposure (UV light)
2️⃣ Frequent exposure to dust and wind
3️⃣ Dry eye conditions
4️⃣ Aging changes in the eye
5️⃣ Irritation from contact lenses or environmental factors
👁️ Symptoms May Include:
A small yellow/white patch on the eye
Dryness or irritation
Redness around the spot
Foreign body sensation (“something in the eye”)
✅ Management & Prevention:
Use lubricating eye drops for comfort
Wear sunglasses to protect against UV rays
Reduce exposure to dust, wind, and smoke
Seek medical attention if it becomes inflamed, painful, or affects vision
💡 Pinguecula is usually harmless, but monitoring is important to ensure it doesn’t develop into a more serious condition like pterygium.
