To our judicial systems concerning children and parent incarceration.

The best interest of the child is paramount but care must be taken not to cause more harm done the good intended. In the case of “Akuapem Poloo” to what extent was the best interest of the child considered?

The child goes to school and back home surrounded by peers. The quote “ my mum went to prison because of me”.
“Your Mum is an ex-convict “
“Your mum is in prison “
These are more damaging to the child in my opinion than what the punishment to the mother as a deterrent. What happened to community sentence or fine? Is the prison the only place to correct wrongs ? Even sometimes counseling will do better than prisons.
Many so called celebrities take advantage of social media but do not even know impact of what they do hence that education is necessary.

Let’s remember the relevance of the then “send your girl child to school commercial “ and how many girls were sent to school by parent.

We need reforms

The child Right International should work around educating parents in mediums that they will understand concerning child right laws. Many of our people may not understand the technical language in our acts. While many of our parents may not be that educated to fully comprehend the provisions of acts, education will help in the rights of children. Ignorance of the law is no excuse but the education must go on just like the NCCE does it.
