10 things you need to know about the menstrual cycle....
1. The menstrual cycle is the monthly series of changes a woman's body goes through in preparation for a possible pregnancy.
2. The average menstrual cycle lasts about 28 days, but it can range from 21 to 35 days.
3. The menstrual cycle is controlled by hormones, primarily estrogen and progesterone, which regulate the growth and shedding of the uterine lining.
4. The first day of a woman's menstrual cycle is considered to be the first day of her period.
5. During the menstrual cycle, an egg is released from one of the ovaries in a process called ovulation, usually around the middle of the cycle.
6. If the egg is not fertilized by s***m, it will be shed along with the uterine lining during menstruation.
7. Menstrual blood is made up of blood, tissue from the uterine lining, and cervical mucus.
8. The amount of blood lost during menstruation is usually between 30-40 milliliters, but can vary from woman to woman.
9. Symptoms of menstruation can include cramps, bloating, mood swings, and fatigue.
10. The menstrual cycle can be affected by factors such as stress, diet, exercise, and certain medical conditions.
