Throwback to glimpses of an impactful event at the first edition of Health for the Streets 2025

On July 12, 2025 at Efua Sutherland Children’s Park, we brought healthcare to the streets of Accra - putting smiles on the faces of the less fortunate through free health screenings, free national health insurance registration, food, and music.

It was a day of compassion, connection, and community impact. And we’re not stopping there…

The second edition promises to be even bigger and better! Anticipate H4DS26 as we at Public Health Alliance International get ready to once again bring free health screenings to the streets of Accra.

Stronger media partnership leads to healthier well informed communities

The Acting Greater Accra Health Director during a media and health stakeholders’ event organized by Jhpiego Ghana called for deeper collaboration between various health institutions and the media to drive responsible health promotion, bridge information gaps, and improve health outcomes through accurate, timely, and impactful communication.

This is a reminder of the critical role the media plays in health communication and promotion, and that when the public is well informed, communities are empowered to make the right decisions about their health and wellbeing.

This year’s theme reminds us that the progress of this fight depends on stronger commitment, resource mobilization, and community action.

Together, we can accelerate efforts, protect vulnerable populations, and move closer to a malaria-free future.

Trust is the foundation of every strong health system - and it begins with informed conversations.

At the maiden edition of Consumer Health Week themed “Empowering Consumers: Strengthening Health Systems”, The Executive Director of Public Health Alliance International Ghana (PHAIG), Dr. Prince Samuel Nuamah, did a presentation on a critical global issue at the event - Addressing Vaccine Hesitancy and Ensuring Vaccine Safety.

The session entailed a deep dive into the factors driving vaccine misinformation, systems that ensure vaccine safety, and the collective role of healthcare professionals, regulators, and communities in building confidence. This has become even more important as Ghana accelerates its local manufacturing agenda through the National Vaccine Institute.

The train of community education and empowerment stops with the last person in the community. Together, we shall continue to build a resilient health system through advocacy.
